Yeah, I was going to use First AGe, Second Age, Third Age to follow the ages of Lord of the Rings. Im doing something similiar to other RTS's, like Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, ect.

Some info on the ages:

First Age = Starting Age. Basic units and structures are buildable. No unit or economy upgrades are available.

Second Age = The Second Age of Middle Earth. More advanced technologies are available including unit upgrades (forged blades, ect) and elite units (tower guards, pikemen, elves) are also buildable. Most structures can now be built.

Third Age = The current Age of Middle Earth. The most advanced technology is now available, including economy upgrades (Market place) and the beginnings of science are now researchable (Isengard bombs would only be buildable in Third Age).

For right now I've decided to let Isengard and Mordor forces upgrade a bit quicker.
I'd appreciate any feedback about that also.

To get to advanced ages, ive made a new structure for Gondor, the Library, and will later for Rohan, Mordor, and Isengard.

I think it would be cool, in a new super extended campaign that starts in the first age, which no-one will make :( ,
but I don`t think it would be realistic in skirmish, I didn`t like it in age of empires either.

Well, it adds a new sense of strategy to the game, and will make games take longer to finish. While I'm still deciding how to get players to get to new ages, here is what will happen: (NOT FINAL)

To get to the second age you must research the following technologies at the
library:

Production = Will be similiar to Iron Ore.. Will give +50% production of blacksmiths, or furnaces and will reduce the cost of upgrades.

Science = Will allow advanced farming techniques that allow players +50% production from farms, or slaugher houses. To produce upgrades like forged blades you need Second Age and Second Age Science. Also Isengard will need to get to Third Age and have Third Age Science to produce bombs.

I may add more upgrades.

If you are confused, here is the upgrade tree so far for the library:

Start with = First Age, then you buy: Cost Advantage
First Age Production 500 50% blacsmith/furnace production
First Age Science 500 50% farms/slaugher, technology
Once you have these First Age Science and Production:
Second Age 1000 New technologies
Then you have to buy:
Second Age Production 750 100% blackmsith/furnace production
Second Age Science 750 100% farms/slaugher, technology
Once you have Second Age Sciencen and Production:
Third Age 1500 New technologies
Third Age Production 1000 150% blacksmith/furnace production
Third Age Science 1000 150% farms/slaugher, technology

After you have researched all that your civilization is the most advanced possible. This will hopefully make the game a bit more challenging and provide more depth.
