Hey,

Ive downloaded the program to edit *.big files. But when i save the changes - i go onto the game, and the changes havent taken effect. E.G. I made Tower Guards (Gondor) Cheaper - their buildtime less, and some other minor things, and they dont take effect on the game. Can somone PLEASE tell me how to get the changes working!

Thanks Alot.

if you extract your ini.big file to your bfme directory and move your orginally ini.big file to an safe place, it would be easier. (you make your changes in the extracted files ofcourse)

Go to click EDIT in the FINALBIG program after you opened a file. Than you will see extract all. :)

I have done. but it makes about 100 different configuration files. and it doesn't - seem right. shouldn't it just be 1 file?

configuration files like aidata.ini, armor.ini, weapon.ini etc. right?

That's the ones you need to edit (well, not nesecarily those above).

For buildcosts and buildtimes, you probably want to look at gamedata.ini

And now a light shines down to wash away the noobie-ness.

"I have seen the light and it was good!"

No, there should be a shitload of files extracted. Wait till you open the W3D.big. :)

Ive put the folder 'ini' (thats what they came in) first in tbfme/data. because the ini folder came in a different data folder. that didn't work. i then put all the files in the ini folder - into the data folder (c:/progs/ea/bmfe/data). that didn't work. so i put ALL the files inside the origenal folder i extracted - into the root directory (c:/progs/ea games/bfme/) that hasn't worked so can some1 PLZ tell me the exact directory of where 2 put the dam files - and weather or not to put in the 'data' folder, inside that is the 'ini folder or just all of the loose config docs!

if you extract all the files at the same time, than you just choose the root directory and it will place all the folders and such.

ive extracted straight 2 the root directory - and that hasn't worked - however it didn't make a load o new files - im sure what it did. it made the file ini. so now do i just have to get rid of the old ini.big file for the pc to look in the folder instead of the ini.big file???

Thanks. :)

and yes, you need to move the ini.big file out of the directory alltogether (don't delete it though, you may need it later!!). Put it on you desktop. (or something.)
