whacked, your so fat man  ;)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I have large pockets

I dont get it though, do you really have to carry 5 gigs of mp3s at you all the time? I mean i think 650mb is more then you'd want since your average mp3 is like 3-4mb. Main thing why i think its pointless :p

ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

I have 4 700mb CDs of music. I don't need an iPod. I'd lose it anyway. CDs are easy, as I only spent a total of 35 dollars for my cd player and cds. I'm a cheap bastard, but it works.

Oh but the batteries!
Nothing worse than getting on the bus with the dead cd player.

And, nothing better than knowing every time you hit play, the music you want to play will play, and will continue to do so without skipping, jumping, grinding, fizzling or melting.

Except for the fact that just about any player out there has better sound quality and battery life than an iPod. At least the one I have does. And if you forget to charge the battery in the iPod you're just as screwed as forgetting AA's for your CD player or whatever.

Price is the key. If you need a mobile music device, speaking about functionality-price relations, an MP3P is way more efficient than an iPod.

Hooray for batteries. And sound quality? Sorry, but I can carry up to 24 LOSSLESS aac albums on me ipod at any given time. Zero quality degradation. And no skipping, melting, jerking, expanding, contracting, folding or scratching.

The battery life? On the 2nd gen, mini, it's pheonomenal. 18 hours. Better for the environment, too.

Again, though. It's a nice thing to have, but it's not necessarily worth the money. There's nothing wrong with the iPod.

I've got a zen micro. It's supposed to get 24 hours on a charge, and I can use WMA or MP3. I believe WMA is lossless. And I don't have to use iTunes.

What's the difference between an iPod and any OTHER mp3 player? ;) People are talking about them as if they're different.

But yes, mp3p > CD... I hate trying to listen to a CD walking and you end up missing half the song because it skips...I want either an iPod shuffle or some other small, cheap affordable MP3P (preferably 512mb-1gb of space). Any suggestions?
(I live in the UK btw, so it must deliver to there :))

I've never had it skip on me, but that's probably because I have an mp3-playing player that reads the whole song. Takes like half a second to load the songs, and that's the only drawback.

That's a huge misconception, I find. You don't have to use itunes with the ipod. I use mlIpod for winamp. WMA is generally no better than mp3 quality. There is a lossless encoding for WMA, I think, but again, the size becomes roughly half that of a full, raw uncompressed .wav file- as it is with any other lossless format such as FLAC, or Lossless AAC. Portable HD players are the way to go, I didn't mean to imply that the iPod was the only portable hd player worth looking into.

MP3 is generally good enough quality for me. And I have an irrational urge to destroy anything made by Apple. So an iPod isn't for me.
