All of the models, skins, and code from the beta is online, at my site, http://www.geocities...neralsfileshome. It's a rather well kept secret of mine, since it's nothing but files with a download index.

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

Too cute! | Server Status: If you can read this, it's up |

In which case you're obviously referring to the Officers Club Special Edition version of Generals. It was neither a beta nor an alpha - it was exactly the same as the current version of Generals that you can get, with the exception that you get a couple of nice extra bits of documentation and the Officers Club logo with your name when you play.
There's no reason why you could want this, nor any legal method of obtaining it other than purchase.
The older concept units were never built into Generals - any old relics cut before final release would still be contained within the .big files in all versions.

No.
He means the version before the Beta version.
I'm not sure if the Alpha got released outside EA staff, but the beta definately did.

Well, the version before the beta version only contained stuff that's still in it. Most of the concepts never ended up in the game anyway, or are from the original state engine, and thus incompatible and non-convertable.
Why not just model them from the concept art like any good mod team should?

I'm making a mod based of the concept art from generals. I have heard that there is a few copies of the generals alpha not beta out there. i need it badly if you have alpha generals and can upload it to the net (securely if prefered) so that i can use it for my mod. If you live in the uk i might be able to arrange a copy by post?

i might be able to do this from overseas perople but knowing the british postal service it'd be cheaper buying concorde!

download my larger than the majority of everyone elses collection of CnC Generals pics at this location

Alpha was NOT publicly released/tested. The only information we have is that which DeeZire gave us (the early screenshots also provide some of the concepts that never made the full release). Some examples of the alpha include:

Rocket Buggy was China's.
Battlemaster was GLA's.
Ranger was an elite USA unit, only available through exp. points.

Rocket Buggy was China's.

That's still in the Beta files

Battlemaster was GLA's.

Never seen that, news to me. I don't think it was in the beta.

Ranger was an elite USA unit, only available through exp. points.

Again, news to me. It was changed before the beta. The other info sounds right. A lot of stuff was changed or removed.

I've got an old issue of PC Zone, which has one of the first previews of Generals and its got some wacky stuff - USA POW Camp which fired a demoralising cannon at enemy troops  Plus it had info on the 3 USA Generals and some old, old units. If you want even more alpha/beta ideas then check out some of the early ingame footage (most of its available at www.planetcnc.com).
