Here is how to test 2vs2, 3vs3 or 4vs4 just with 2 AI teams playing (no human player)

1. Start game as usual with you at slot 1.
2. Delete your hq after gamestart
3. Select 'yes' to view map
4. Switch player with button at lower right.
5. Restart same game from menu.

Now all 6 players are played by AI and you can watch the game unfold.

Sometimes its like watching a nice action movie, very relaxing compared to being involved.

And how are the AIs doing? Preliminiaries tests have been excellent. Played 4p_Biffys Peril with me as SM and other HARDER AIs as FFA (Chaos, Eldar, Ork) and while I started out good, the Ork AI pushed me back a little and then Chaos came around and whomped my a*s back to the stoneage.. Damn it was bad ! ! ! ! Amazing this was all under v1.30! Felt like getting owned under v1.20.

Btw, anyone noticed that since Relic stupidly boosted Chaos, they basically own all? I mean, Defilers are god-like no-wonder they were dominating. Ork are, well, meh, and Eldar are devious moo-fooers! Ugh!!!

They need to YET AGAIN go back to the drawing board and re-balance as its humiliating seeing Defilers and running away for dem hills!

Basically the AI is doing well apart from :

1. Not building well at some player made maps with confined space.
2. Sometimes squads standing under fire and looking in the wrong direction before they eventually react.
3. Broken squads won't retreat properly.
4. Squads still don't protect their base properly. I had 2 squads + librarian standing motionless near allies base while own base was completly destroyed !

Most of these problems are low level non fixable squad/build bugs so I think we should deliver.

And all those are well-known unrelated to the massive v1.30 enhancements from Monday nite. Confined space + AI = always screwy. Thats every RTS out there I know. AIs have to someday become dynamically-aware of their surroundings and adapt to their buildspaces when they are odd-like. hehe.. #4 is sooo well known but I thought it will be fixable someday? Guess thats about the inter-AI base communications thingy.

is this in v1.2-1.3? For some reason I can't patch to any new update. Waht button on the lower right?

I think the mod works aith 1.0 becasue the cpu even on standard mode is very agressive. Good work

They shouldn't - Gamejack v5.0 works nicely though! I couldn't stand keeping the disc in + takes too long if I'm testing AI that crashes the game!

I can't for the life of me see these buttons that larkin metions after I delete the HQs. Is that only in retail version1.3? I have 1.2 installed right now. I had to install the 1.01 patch for some reason.


I'm new to this game and wanted to watch some good AI battles that will show me some build orders used. Now I can't wait till this new ai mod comes out. sounds spectacular.

Start playing.. When game starts click on your HQ to highlight it, hit the DELETE key once or twice, it will blow up, next screen it will ask if you wish to continue watching or forfeit.. Click YES.. All done! Enjoy AI scrapage!

Ahh instead of you and 3 other cpu slots you should have yourself and 4 other slots is that it? Why is it that you can't do a FFA?For some reason everytime I try to start a game and lock teams is marked "no" it keeps saying that you can't start a game with auto team or something like that. What's with that? there seems to be no option for ffa that i saw. every time i start a team a game with 3 cpus i always seem to have an ally.

Errr.. no... There is a FFA mode. Look at the small dropdown box that is above pre-game options like Skill Level, Starting Resources, Game Speed, etc. See.. thats a dropdown box.. there are three options, one of them is FreeForAll.. like Teams myself + even if you select teams you can still have it set to FreeForAll - just select each player as blank (give them no number..).

The trick goes on now as I explained. After you did what Thudo explained above two buttons show up in the lower right corner. Select switch player and restart the game from the menu. Now game will restart with all teams played by AI !

After I finally got 1.3 to work I saw the buttons you mentioned. I twas cool to see the 2 teams fight it out. Now bring on skirmish 1.2 can't wait

Holy crap I didn't know about the RESTART!! So in other words I can see for the first time 4p_MountainTrail 2vs2 All AIs battling itself out with that little workaround? Damn.. how'd you know to do that?!?! Thats a "hidden feature".
