Hello people.
I've recently purchased a new system with an AMD 3200+ 64bit processor.
Half a gig RAM and a nice videocard. (Asus 6600 TD 256mb).
I've been having more troubles with YR on this new system then on my old system.
My problems: YR starts up REALLY slow. Takes like 15 minutes, which is just ridiculous as my pc run newer and more intenser games without any problems.
If I do YR with a mod it takes like double the time.
I've tried putting my YR disc on my harddisc and run it from there, it somewhat got a bit less. But still outrageous times. The waiting time comes @ the loading screen (you see the brutes stuff and it says loading). I don't know whats the problem causing it. People have blamed my processor. I don't run a legal version of XP and thus don't have SP1 or SP2. But that shouldn't make a difference at all, acording to friends and my old pc who ran that same windows and YR without any problems.
I've got the latests videocard and motherboard drivers and all, got most Windows updates, got a fully patched YR and RA2, I got it on compatability mode, yet it still doesn't work.. Can someone help me?
good day.

Even the compatibility mode doesnt work in all of the situations, if you are really that desperate do this: make a special partition of your HD and instal either windows 98 on it, or even beter install Winex. Ii'm not sure under what condidition it' being distributed, but it's not open sourced. Here's what it's said about it at sourceforge:

"TransGaming is developing improvements to the Wine project to achieve full Linux compatibility for games developed using the Microsoft® DirectX® APIs."

Hmmm.. I don't think I'm gonna screw around with this new pc and os just for YR. I don't think its worth all THAT trouble..
if there is any quicker or easier way to fix this, I'll be glad to hear it.

I have a AMD Athlon 64 Bits +2800, 512 Mb of RAM and a ATI Radeon 9200. The loading times are longer than on my old AMD 900 mhz, but still faster than a P4 3.0 Ghz HT. I think Yuri's Revenge hates fast processors. But still, its weird that it takes that much time. It takes me around 15 more seconds than my friend with is P3 800Mhz, 316 Mb of RAM and a TNT2 32 Mb that is almost dead.

My PC has a AMD Athlon 3400+, and it runs YR faster than 1 my laptop with a 2.0 GHz Celeron, 2 my old PC with a 866 MHz Pentium III.
I don't know what is wrong with your PCs, YR loads on this one in 5 seconds or so.

My PC has 3.4ghz and it runs extremely fast. I had to set it to win 98 compatibility mode though.

The problem clearly isn't the processor speed but YR being somewhat incompatible with winXP (and perhaps not being supported by EA anymore that could perhaps fix this problem)

Yeah, though it runs just as fine on my laptop with windows 2000 as on my PC with windows XP (SP1). I believe I did had problems with SP2 installed.

Here the cutscenes caused a crash, because my disc was damaged. On windows 2000 however, they did work, but there was a lot of sound and images missing. I bought a new CD and it worked fine here. (at first whenever there was a crash I'd transport the game to my laptop with win2000, play it, save after the cutscene and transport it back. That was not very handy though :blinky:)
