I've always been wondering, why does everybody make like, a mod of all races while other mods specialise in one, but there's so many redone races, why not everybody make one mod? Cause I think players would like to enjoy playing a game with all the races in the game, instead of just one at a time...just my idea though...

Too many cooks spoil a broth.

Everyone wants to be a leader of a mod while few want to be part of a team. Trying to get all these leaders to co-operate would just be more hassle than it's worth.

Actually, what I was thinking is that once a bunch of us get our "separate race" mods completed, we could kinda throw them all together. There are lots of them out there (nick's Elves, my Elves, Drums in the Deep (Dwarves and Goblins), Gothmog's Minas Morgul, your hobbits, Battle in Moria (more Dwarves and Goblins)). But I think the key for anything like this to work would be that the mods would have to be pretty well completed as per the separate leaders' desires. Then they could be "meshed together" with, of course, a bit of tweaking.

If people would like to try this, I think it would be worth a go.

That sounds good to me...I'll include my mod/mods in a "mod of all races"

(To make it really good, you'll need someone who can create new AI for the factions...and an auto-installer so noobs can play  )

Yea though i'm just thinking on how badly EA does to try and remake the big battles into the game. And some other stuff they did, like I didn't like how they did Shelob's lair, freeing the Gondorians, how would Gondorians get there first? and how Sam leads an army to save Frodo, I'd like it to be like Sam all alone, with some micromanagement and stuff. Then after he gets an ability when he reachs at Cirith Ungol, where he can remain hidden for a while like the one ring power, so the player needs to sneak him up to the tower and free Frodo, then afterwards moving them to a certain spot while the orcs try to kill each other. Minas Tirith's battle was way small, they never ever made through the first level, not even on hard...Mordor needed more units...

If we really wanted to make the mod epic we'd double the squad units ^^ now that would be so cool, now that would be epic. And the dead bodies remain there in the whole game...yea....and like...everything slow-mo's and nobody hits the heroes as they turn to look at Frodo, who just got hit even with a mythril vest on, and he begins moaning like if he was having sex with a monkey.

I personally like the squads sizes the way they are...any bigger and they always look like they are in perfect formation (how often are 40 uruks going to be perfectly in step).

As for the dead bodies...I tried that once, its cool. Unfortunatly it slows the game down big time...and you still have Line of Sight with the corpses  ...so if you send your troops into the enemy base and they all die, you will have a nice LOS into the enemy base...

And I don't think the name should be epic or huge or anything like that...I find those always remind me of large mods that fell apart. Plus everybody uses those names, I bet there are 7-8 mods that had/have epic or huge or mega in the title... I think the title should be something Tolkien-ish...

Massive? :D

Anyway, there are ways of getting round the LOS stuff, like spawning a new object (a dead body) when the original unit dies..

You can also randomise formations, and have an offset, so they dont stay in line, just sort of basically in a group :D

We could also slow down the sink rate of dead units... That would avoid some of the lag time, though it wouldn't totally resolve the sight issue. But let's not get too excited. None of us really has a mod that's complete enough to put into this project (aside from nick).

As for a name...

The Tribulations of Arda
Tales of the Red Book
The End of All Things

Why not just keep the with the theme of the whole forums and call it "BFME: The 3rd Age"

Seeing we are all here on T3A discussing the issue....

I second that. Hostile's a bloody genious lol. Would a hardcore "The 3rd Age" be good, or the traditional "The Third Age" be more appropriate?

I would have voted for "Third" but since LadyRhiea is making a "Third Age" mod I guess we should go with "3rd". So:

"BFME: The 3rd Age"

(I bet people are going to get so confused when we talk about The 3rd Age (mod) and The 3rd Age (website) lol  )

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The spider lair would be great, and if anyone's done/given thought to a Dol Goldur faction, the skeleton unit may even be usable (stretching the "Necromancy Tower" a bit... but oh well).
