Still, being tied up to much is no excuse for the delayed reaction in releasing the oil stockpiles. He has 700 million frigging barrels! And he waits until yesterday to release them! He knew the market was going to take a hit, but I guess he wanted to be sure. By yesterday morning gas cost $3.18 a gallon for regular! Today, my neighbor got about two gallons for $7.00! It didn't even fill her tank! I didn't have much of a problem with Bush until now.

IMPEACH, IMPEACH, IMPEACH! ;)

And yeah, the people who run insurance companies are usually idiots.

A: You're right, and wrong at the same time. Keeping it privately owned costs less because of taxes, etc. It would probably cost more to the public.

B: Look at the post times of our last posts. ;)

Paying for massive damage is the insurance company's job, not the President. Everyone seems to blame him for things he can't control. Besides, I would rather have him than Kerry.

Yeah, I would rather have Bush than that pussy Kerry... Three Purple Hearts. Yeah, it's something to be proud of, but it's not like he got the Silver Star or the MoH! I'd rather have an idiot who blows up things he can't spell in office.
-"George, how do you spell Baghdad?"
-"Boom!"
People in Timbuktu, my thoughts are with you... :p

Anyway, the situation in New Orleans looks like it's clearing up a little. It's still bad, but there are more Natl. Guard there to maintain order.

*EDIT* Just heard. People have been sniping the evacuation of a hospital in the city, so forget what I said about it stabilizing...

DUDE WTF?!?!

Anyway things should improve cuz tehy got an aircraft carrier offshore ready to serve as a command post, rearm station, barracks, and landing strip for the Army/Marines in the area. Violence should calm down a bit.

The oil wasnt released because it is the reserve and he didnt want to use it all at once.

DUDE WTF?!?!

WTF to my comment on Bush or the sniping... Yeah I think I know the answer. That's pretty much what I said when I heard. They are nuts down there. They're a bunch of cavemen with guns. It sounds pretty bad, and they'll have to do better than the Natl. Guard. Next it'll be the Marines, then maybe even the SEALs!

Here's the story.

Snipers

I've seen references to the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan, which is already in the gulf conducting rescue efforts, and the amphibious assault ship Iwo Jima was being readied for departure as of yesterday, but so far I haven't seen anything about a full blown aircraft carrier in the area yet. Keyword yet.

Dude, it sounds more like Somalia down there! It's like a full blown civil war in the city! Although the first priority should be rescue, blowing the brains out of those, those "rioters" as I call 'em should be a close second! I saw a picture of Natl. Guard troops on CNN. They weren't handing out food or supplies, they were in full combat gear with M16s ready to fire! They could use an aircraft carrier before people start using RPGs! (I don't know where they'd get them since they're cut off, but I wouldn't be surprised...) We seriously need to use the Natl. Guard for security and combat and have the Coast Guard concentrate on the rescue! Next they'll need Rangers or Delta Ops to deal with these nutcases! This is really getting me pissed! Yet you have to feel sorry for the innocent people caught in the middle...

My bad... I found it...

'WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The military will expand the number of National Guard troops mobilized for hurricane relief efforts along the Gulf coast to 30,000 in the coming days, and the Navy is sending the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman to help, officials said on Thursday...'

They might have to send in Marines or something if this keeps up and they should be ordered to shoot anyone who pulls a gun on sight.

the WTF was for the snipers. What could they possibly hope to gain from killing the rescuers?

I agree, a shoot to kill order would give at least most a moment of pause, and reduce this crap quite a bit.

As for the snipers, they probably want their 15 minutes of fame. They get to brag to their gang, crew, or posse and say, 'Look at the news, I did that'. Unfortunately the media is eating stories like this up for lunch.

In some news thing, they were shooting at the choppers and saying "...You better rescue my family now!..." I don't see how that helps, since it'll just drive away the rescue choppers and bring in Blackhawks with heavily armed Marines. We should probably treat this as a hostile area. There have been 13 REPORTED murders. There's probably been lots more, but we don't know for sure. Women have been getting raped, cars have been stolen, and people robbed. People who still have houses have to put up "Violaters will be Shot" signs on their property to keep away looters. It will be decades until the city gets halfway back to normal! It seriously sounds like an African country down there with people fighting all over. There's somone on another forum that I go to that was reported missing down there, and the entire forum (all 31,000 members) have been posting their support. Katrina brought out the best of humanity up here and the worst down there. This really sucks! It makes me sick (see post icon...)

And I think the Guards have been issued a shoot to kill order with the declaration of martial law. Just go look for pictures of the Guards and you'll see them on combat patrols in the streets of New Orleans.
