what do you think? what should those two first buildings be? is this a dumb idea?

How can I see how many polys a model is
Convert your model to an Editable Mesh (Right click -> Convert to). Look for the Utilities button on the top-right of the sidebar thingy. Click it, and click polygon counter.
Cylinders in a game like BfME never have to have more than 8 sides. 6 is often enough.

Second Elven building is: 554 polys
Third Elven Building is: 2004 polys
First Men of the West Building is: 2284 polys
First Dwarven Wagon is: 2432 polys

try and set a limit of 2000 for a building, and 350 for a common unit, 500 for an elite and 1000 for heroes.
That way, you'll have a limit, but can still get over those limits, since the engine would support that
btw, im just a crappy modeller, so maybe you should wait until someone better than i do confirm those values
