Hope he knows what to do.

I had to post this because this is very sad and I beleive this is important.

The government beleives it is going to cost 24billion to rebuild New Orleans.

I would of gone and help with my National Guard unit but other cities were called first but I hope I do get called to help.

I agree, this is really bad. Let's see if any other countries choose to help us in our time of need.

Its sad peoples lives have been destroyed, but hasn't that region had hurricanes before. If so, why don't they build more defense around the water? I mean whos idea was it to allow millions of people live under sea level in a region prone to hurricanes?

I do totally symphonise for the families and lives and business affected.

From what I've seen on CNN, it wasn't that bad. The reporter dood was interviewing people who were just in a T-Shirt, near the worst place of the hurricane. After that, it only weakened down.

The main problem was the dykes breaking and water coming in... But even that didn't look as bad as the waterproblems in Switzerland and Germany over the last few days.

Don't get that wrong, it's still shit for the people who are affected by it...

Why do they build wooden houses in those kind of regions, actually?

Not to sound rude or anything but how does that relate to politics? AFAIK this forum is for political discussion, and unless i missed something hurricanes werent branded as terrorists yet.

ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

it talks about world events.

I think though maybe more events like wars and so were ment, not events caused by nature, not sure though.
This will stay here for now unless someone has a good reason why it should be moved.
It's very sad for those people.Hybrid has a point though, I mean if there are hurricanes a lot there why not build a house from stone or so?
It's very sad for everyone there, imagine what it'd be like if your house was destroyed, or your brother was hurt because of a hurricane.

Why the hell are you guys arguing about where a forum topic should be, when there are now millions of people homeless and thousands dead because of the subject of the thread?

It's not just the fact that your house has been destroyed. What would you, where would you go? Everything you once had has now been destroyed, and it's mayhem. People looting, aid being slow, no advice. It's not just your house, it's the whole city you live in, and the area surrounding it. People you once knew may have died. You just don't know. There is nowhere to go, and your life has been torn apart.

What made it so bad was the sheer size in area of the storm. Imagine 12 hours straight of 145mph winds. Structures just aren't designed for that much punishment.

Most of the city is underwater... trust me, it's bad. There really wasn't much they could do here, the city was founded in the wrong place, before people were smart enough to know it was a bad idea. Man vs. Mama Natty, Mama always wins.
