You've missed the point, Ali. It's pointing out racism.

I'm more concerned about where this failure to help the people is leading politically than whether new orleans will be a city again.
Its possible yeah, just takes a few years rebuilding.

A newspaper stated that when asked for help by a woman, a police officer replied

Go to hell, it's every man for himself.

That's insane. Why don't people care for each other any more these days?

LETS RAPE PEOPLE AND SNIPE PEOPLE WHO ARE HELPING US.
Isn't that a great theory to survive this?

Disaster response would have been much more effective if:
1. Vehicles were procured to evacuate those who could not evacuate.
2. People had not looted and fired on police stations.
3. People had not set fire to buildings.
4. The city of New Orleans had been prepared for flooding from the Mississippi.
5. People had remained calm during the disaster.
None of these things happened due to failings at the lowest and highest levels, from the Department of Public Works to the head of FEMA.

There were poeple who have reviewed scenerios for this over the last two years I've read. They did know this scenerios was possible. But like any disaster in your life, very few of us actually prepare for it in the amount that we need to.

This was a perfect storm of events. No doubting it. I don't believe people looted cause they are black. I believe people looted cause they either needed or could get away with it.

This was quoted by the US government as the largest natural disaster in the history of the US. There is a chance that New Orleans may not be a city anymore. It's not gonna go away but I think it safe to assume it will in the future have alot less population because of it's vulnerablility to massive flooding.

Let us pray another hurricane does not hit it this year. When structures sit in water for 4-6 weeks, the foundations crumble, meaning not only will the structures have to be torn down, many are very old and historical. Least of my worries...

To Lord Kal, your request to remove that image was very harsh, you could have pm'ed him requesting that he remove such an image. Or an admin. But seeing your an asshole you flamed right away.

Show some dignity and respect you arsehole, and take the picture of that dead body out there. I'm sure her dying wish wasn't to have her lifeless corpse posted on the internet for people to gawp at.

There is a polite way to request a change or edit. You do not have to attack someone right away. You could have gotten your message across with more dignified words.

I hope they'll be able to rebuild everything.
People don't loot (that's stealing right? well my dictionary says so) because of their skincolour. That has nothing to do with each other.
Totally agreed @ Lord Kal, I have been too busy this afternoon to spot it before you did, else I would've said so.

Well, the race question came up last evening on CNN. They basically stated 95% of the people they're seeing are black and poor, so yes, black people are looting in New Orleans.
Get over it. It's really nothing to do with race, but simply probability. I guarantee you that 5% of the 5% of whites are looting also, just as much as the 5% of the 95% of blacks in proportion obviously.

Also, Jesse Jackson's on TV trying to decry the government's racial extermination, claiming that relief efforts are extra slow because of skin color. :D

Kayne West said Bush hates black people as well, and the US Engineer Corps is saying that the city will take 3 months to be completley drained some parts will take 36 days but if Hostiles right about the foundations which is very true then many wont be structually sound.

I've been watching on CNN them talking about the helicopters drop bags of gravel despite what they are saying it looks a preaty futile effort, when you don't have pumping stations working. My grandfather who was in the Royal Enginers and is now still working as an architect said the best idea would be to use a large floating object then sink it with explosives fill with gravel and pump the water out.

A lot less far fetched than you think, although I doubt it's an attemt at extermination, I can almost guarantee you that if if it was a bunch of white middle class people stuck out there, they would have been rescued by now.

Too true. Bsh has raelly handled this appallingly, and he even stopped aid coming in for a few hours when he flew out there to have pictures taken!

The problem with Bush, and most conservative leaders, is that he believes he's a master when actually hes a servant. The leader of a coutnry is just the highest rank of public servant - Bush serves the public, not the other way round.

I can't possibly call anyone who secures food after a natural disaster a "looter" I'll leave that name for the people who stole TV's and guns from shops.

Securing food after something like this isn't looting, it's common sense!

Thanks you guys for keeping the news updated and now I am back. I will continue with the news tommorrow but I heard on the radio that the most damage is repaired where the flooding is happening and now all they have to do is pump out all the water and look for suriviors or dead family members so they is still lots need to be done.
