Well Ive been doing Visual BAsic in School and im making a program so you can pick coordinates on the plane and it will list "Position:X:# Y:#" whenever you hit a certain location. then you can copy it to make new hordes. I like this it speeds things up for my old mod.

Any one interested in this mod? all you do is select the places then copy the words. It wont be released for a while she keeps persisting they will all have errors and need debugging so thatll take a while and my teacher wants our owwn programs flawless

Sounds interesting! I'd love to get a copy. When you say it won't be released for a while, do you mean weeks or months?

not trying to continually criticize you, its not a bad idea and will probably help out beginners, but even just having huge numbers of units in a formation is awesome looking.

I say release it. Any tool that can help someone out somewhere is well worth it.

yes, by all means, release it. dont let me discourage you, keep it up.

what would make this really useful is if you could get the coordinates to make a circular, semicircular, or otherwise rounded formation automatically.

Visually it would be much easier to lay it out in a program and then copy the coordinates, so it would at least be a big step in the right direction.

I think this is a pretty good idea. Although I am easily able to do coordinates, it does take a good amount of time if you're trying to do all the units of a faction, which I did...took a very long time. I reccommmend having like a menu system. Something like this would be cool:

1st option: you just click away and it gives you the coordinates for each click, so you can make complicated formations.

2nd option: you select infantry. Under infantry, there is a submenu, which allows you to choose a variety of formations such as skirmish, block, square, wedge, etc. It prompts you to enter the number of units in the horde, and then you select one of the formations above and it spits out a whole set of coordinates that you can just copy in. Make it prompt for the name of the unit, the number of ranks, etc., and then when you do a return statement, just make it print out your coordinates like you would see it in the actual ini, with the Rank info and everything. So all you have to do is copy paste and you're done.

3rd + options: Do the same, but do cavalry formations and any other types you can think of. This would be really cool.

I could actually do all of what I said (I'm quite skilled at programming in Java), but the only way I know how to compile and open a program that uses Java is with a compiler, which everyone would have to download if they wanted to use it. I learned how to write the code, not implement it in other programs.

So does anyone know anything about that?

But either way...it's a great idea. Keep at it. I suggest releasing it before your teacher tells you that you're done. If there are bugs, the public will find them and you can fix them. It'll probably make the debugging process quicker, since it would probably take you a while to test everything.

Well i got a version on my computer...not telling how but anyway its all laid out now im righting out the command buttons. your able to reset it to all boxes are unchecked, you can give in a variable and it will use tht variable to no the separation between units. And once you select a box the thing appears "Positions:X:# Y:#" in a text box. and once you de select it it takes it away. Ill post what the current version looks like im still working on it though

cool software. It's like if you have a legion with Roman infantry laying in a squad of 1000. :D

This sounds cool and it will be helpful. The only thing you said that worries me is once you deselct one place, the coordinates dissapear. Will you be able to acess them later on when your done? I like doing everything related at one time, not do this, then that, then come back to this.
Anything later then now isn't soon enough.

WAIT HOLD IT you mean like when you want to make a horde, you can see what it looks like before you put it in game?
OK THAT IS IT I NEED THIS MOD TO FINISH
it would save me hours and then I would do triple combo hordes
a lot
how about being able to tell a guy to look the other way?
