D, give it half a chance. Many people haven't SEEN that poll yet.

5 out of 13 think it should be everywhere. Everyone else thinks it should at least be somewhat more restrictive than it currently is. I've even proposed the idea of telling ALL hostees they have this right to have it removed. Give them the choice upon acceptance of the hosting, or, if they're currently hosted, give them all the choice now.

Also, I don't think they should be allowed to post in the HoP/Deep Thought, Creative (as that's basically us giving hosting without them having any sort of affiliation with Revora).
Open Topic and Spam, along with any hostees who want it or couldn't give a fuck either way, I could live with.

Agreed with Ash. If the admins want to spread bollocks about guest posting being useful, just restrict it heavily. If 3rd age doesnt mind, let them have it but the rest of us do mind for example guests coming in and reviving a year old thread from open topic/creative/think tank. It's noob behaviour, and you can't even warn the guy that does it since - surprise - he's using a guest account and you cant even pm him and whatnot.

By all means let them view all these forums but for heavens sake don't let them post in it without registering! It's like leaving your house open when you leave. You can either trust your neighbours and cope with the possibility that your house will be robbed clean, or you can lock it up and if anyone wants to get in they can with your permission and your eye on them. It's the same kind of logic.

ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

Well we can just delete those few guest posts can't we?
If you must know, in US people triple lock their doors (not all people maybe though, but the majority), in Canada the doors are unlocked. In the US there is a lot more crime than in Canada as far as I know, I do know it's 7 times as high as in the Netherlands.
Anyway, just because a couple of guests mess up, should not mean we should punish every guest for that.

Its a necessary part. If a guest is punished by this it's only cause of his laziness to register. If he wants to post he registers, of he doesn't want to post then he doesn't have to register, simple as that.

Dont worry, I will make sure that the new version of the Hive makes clear the choices hostees have, and their options regarding various aspects of their hosting.

guests may have a random behaviour, since there is no known user behind it, but it's a nice risk. Usually positive

I've seen nothing but complete crap from guests.

What is the big deal about this guest posting thing? What if someone has a problem with their computer and they need to post (as a guest) in order to inform members of his/her problem. I know i've done that once, and its not like we get a constant barrage of guest posting...

Yes i know about that one recent incident but how often does that happen? :)

What does a problem with your computer have to the aspect of logging in if you have a account? It's not like it takes you 2 hours to do so so that is not a valid excuse.
