Hello all,

I've been making a few changes to the game recently and decided that I should give Frodo and Sam some controlbar text. I added this in the csf and tried replacing the patch 102 (english) big file with my own .csf file. I tried putting the edit in the big file, but neither work.

Can anyone tell me what to do with my changed .csf file.

Thanks,
Tec

Did you put it in the English_update file? Or did you put it in your mod file, or where did you put it?

"_englishpatch102.big"

Is the file, and the main BFME directory is the loaction. I replaced the csf originally in there... unless it didn't replace or something.

If you put it in there it should work, try putting it in a .big folder and put it in

C:\Documents and Settings\***USER***\Applications Data\My Battle for Middle-Earth Files\

and create a shortcut with a target ".... -mod ***BIG FILE NAME***.big"

-Just copy the BFME shortcut on your desktop, rename it so you know it's the mods, and add "-mod ***BIG***.big" to the end of the target

-and yes, just add it under data/ in your .big file

Note: anything with ***'s around it, must be changed

Okay, sorry to be a real pain... but I don't understand this whole mod link thing. Do I have no choice but to use big files now then?

How does a link to a mod*name*.big link back to the rest of the game?

Sorry, i've had a long day and must not be focusing on this enough.

okay, now Lauri's gonna show you;

1. make a big file (hope you can do this)

2. insert the files you edited

3. put the big file in C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Applications Data\My Battle for Middle-Earth Files\ (My Battle for Middle-Earth Files may be another lanuage for people)

4. say you called your big file Sots.big, then copy the shortcut for the original game.

5. then right click\propeties, and you'l see Target and some text, add this behind the "-thing exactly: [SPACE]-mod Sots.big

6. Note the Sots, with the big letter. you also have to have a SPACE between " -mod Sots.big

7. The CFS file has to be under lang\english  or polish, norwegian, spanish whatever your lanuage is. but you said englishpatch_02.big so......

Thanks, that's very easy to follow.

However, I've been doing some reading on the tips and tricks thread and am now using a .str file for the csf as it is soo much easier for someone who is constantly modifying like myself.

I'm going to try and use that instead. Next I just have to make Gimli's 'Dwarven Grudge' work.

thanks.
