There is much argument in the Guest posting.............. topic. This argument is only had by those greatly for or greatly against guest post. People who are un-sure or "it's not my forum, so i don't argue about the rules" don't give their say.

So what do people think of guest posting?
Options:
- Guest posting on everywhere, as it is now. With this option there may be the odd project forums who have guest posting off, but 95% of the forum would have it on.
- Guest posting only on in some forums. Like this 'Feedback, Suggestions & Network', so that people with forum member account problems can guest post about their troubles. Or in the game editing forums, where people come by and ask their 1 quest and leave.
- Guest posting on in only the guest forum. One guest posting forum, this is the only place where guests can post. This would be for account help and one off questions.
- Guest posting off everywhere. Guests never posting in any forum.

This poll is to show in a % what voters feel. I doubt any actions will be taken from it.

Other facts:
- Guests can only post once every 5 minuties.
- Registering requires e-mail validation. There may be people at places (college, work) where they can't get to their e-mail or just don't have one.

Guests are Guests and they should stick to their own place, a guest forum. There they can ask about benefits about registering and such. But still let them have the view all forums, as now. If they are at college, they can wait until they get home.

Some people still don't have an Internet connection at home. What then Jorg?

Leave it as is. Why should you force someone to register to post 2 comments?

Why would they ONLY post 2 comments? What sort of person goes to a forum to post only 2 things? I know of none...usually if you're gonna post you stick around.

Whats the problem with taking your 2 minutes to register then?

ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

Well thats whats the guest reading thing is for. By hanging out at a forum before you post something you get to know whether its a "weird" or a "normal" one. Answer number 2 is for you to have 2 emails, like me. One legit email, and one phony email for registering on sites, signing up for things etc, basically a spam email. You can sign up anywhere and the email you give out will never be safe, thats why itg is necessary to take these precautions. It's neccesary and it doesnt justify guest posting on on these boards.

I used to have one, before Hotmail closed my account because of too many wrong password attempts and it's still closed a year later ><.
Then I created this email. However I now use it as an MSN address, and to communicate here on Revora.
I'm not going to create another address.

I'd say have it on in public forums and have it as an option for owners of project forums to decide upon..

Collective view?

Read the votes. Most people don't want guestposting everywhere, as is currently enforced. Actually, I believe one of the admins added a couple to the 'everywhere' box

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

What common, collective view? You mean the one where almost everyone (T3A and of course the admins being the exception) agrees that guest posting should be disabled?

Honestly you guys should listen to everyone at least sometimes instead of blindly enforcing your own views

One question. Have guests lately, say the last week, been very annoying?
I'd say no. I've seen more annoying members than guests the last week.

Thats what annoys me.

Besides banning guest posting will cut down on spam, and make the forums more secure.

Ash, when Hostile says the 'common, collective view', he meanst the common view of the network leaders.

And Blaat is right. There are many registered members that are as much as problematic or more problematic than the majority of the guests. Guest posting allows a higher activity in the forums and makes the community grow faster. The guest knows that if he doesn't register, his 'ID' can be hijacked by anyone. So, the natural tendency is that guests register.
