Fixing the Harder AI cheat

I've noticed that starting in WA, the Harder AI gets a rather large resource bonus, which frustrates me to no end. I really hate playing a supposedly even match when my opponenet cheats. Any chance of you guys being able to return the Harder AI to normal resource levels with your mod?

I didn't notice a resource bonus for harder AI. Do you have a replay showing this ?

AFAIK only the Insane AI cheats with resources. Harder AI is the Insane AI minus the cheating.

I just tested it since I was curious.

Insane resource rate is 40% faster
Harder is 20% faster
Hard is even.
Standard is 20% slower
Easy is 70% slower.

To test, I disabled the AI, started a skirmish, sat for a while. Then checked out the resource score.

I guess Hard should use the Advanced AI for people who want an even game. Actually, why not let all of them use the Advanced AI? The resource limit on Easy should still make it relatively easy, right?

That is quite a change there, Relic! Am I wrong or did it used to be like this?

We could make all difficulty levels play the same, but it is easier to tell everyone to pick the level that the Skirmish AI works best at - saves time and testing.

From these figures it looks as if Hard is the level we should be aiming for, since I don't like the idea of the AI cheating as regards resources. The Skirmish AI should be good enough on a level playing field.

Ohh man.. RELIC ! !

HARDER was the default "level playing field".. You mean HARDER now gets a 20% bonus?!? WTF?!? HARD in WA is now what was HARDER in pre-WA? Sh*t.

For the current build on the site, HARD and lower skills are NOT finished yet. We've been testing with HARDER and up.

You can only change the Resource Rate bonuses for the AI via SCAR. There is a .scar file for this. Do we want to change that? I do not think so. That goes beyond our scope of the project which should be the \ai folder. Going outside is dicey.

Just to make sure patch 1.4 didn't change anything, I tested and Insane gets a 25% bonus while Harder is even.

Yep so in WA, HARD skill is the defacto level-playing standard now. HARDER is 20% and Insane is 40% resource rate bonus.. No biggie..

Aww nuts. Thanks anyways for proving that I have at least one excuse for why I get beat on occasion.

Hmm, maybe I should just practice a bit more.
