As the Hive administrator, I am responsible to some degree for the hosting that people receive at Revora.

Eventually the plan is to make the Hive the place that everyone has to go through in order to get hosting at Revora. We plan to do this by creating a number of online forms, that will manage hosting requests and project updates. These forms will create a database containing information on EVERY Revora project. This information will include the basics, eg whether its a mod, who its run by, that kinda thing. Every project leader will, on a monthly basis have to submit a project update form, detailing how the project has progressed over the course of the last month. This will enable us (Me and the relative team eg, CNC Guild) to check your progress, see how we can help you in the future, and also will be made available to the public on the Hive as a Monthly Progress Report. These will be staggered, so that each week a new section will be updated (1 week CNC, 1 week Half Life, that kinda thing). Along with these Progress Reports, we will select one project from that section each month, which will be our Project of the Month. As part of this, we will aim to interview you for the Hive, including screenshots, etc. You will also be advertised on the Hive as a Project of the Month, and will be advertised across Revora with the other leading projects from each section.

I also plan to liase with the staff at RCAlert, in order to help new hostees get set up with a website, forums, etc as quickly as possible.

My job is to make things easier, and to promote our projects as much as possible. I would like to think I will be able to accomplish this but I need your help to make this a reality. How can you help?

Well, at the moment, I am looking for one person to help me with setting up, and then maintaining the new system.

I am also after your advice. You guys spend a lot of your time at Revora, some of you have projects already hosted. What else would you like to see us provide you?

Thanks for your time guys (& gals!)
Dan

I can only assume that our hostees are currently very happy with the service they are currently getting. Perhaps they are not interested in Revora wide advertisements, etc?

I don't think people care.

Only thing i'd like is the "This Weeks Best" on the network bar, to show off the best bits of the network each week. As ES could easy do an event, but i'm rubbish at advertising (i'm the kind who thinks "if you build it; they will come").

As for ad thing; i'd rather have 2 weeks of ad's than have to find new hosting.

To be honest. I think its absolutely ridiculous. Considering the amount of fuss that was brought up over something as petty as guest posting. This is something that can really help you guys get your mods off the ground. Quite frankly, if you can't even be bothered to make one post, offering any tips, or even a simple "Sounds like a good idea, can't wait!", then I don't know why I'm wasting my time to be frank.

You have good plans. Maybe people don't like reading big texts. Anyway, it's up to the C&C, BfME, HL and whatever else leaders to comunicate with the hostees about these features, since they'll be the ones that will get the information from the hostees and give it to you.

... the post has only been here 1 day :)

If you feel you're wasting your time with hostees; then work on a network site, you should get a better response.

Well I like the way Banshee does PPM with the main site being easy access from the forum why can't we do that here?

What has the main site being easily accessible from the forum got to do with the Hive or hosting?

That if it was updated a bit more with progress from our mods? Look at PPM with screenshots a little description perhaps even a link to more of the article.

The plans for the Hive already include a monthly progress report from every Revora project. But thanks for the suggestion.

Those sound like some great ideas dan. They will make the already great hosting even better. :) It does say: 'Advertising. Spread the word with our help.' but I find that there isn't much spreading of the word happening.

Generals mods doesn't need much advertising from our side, since most of C&C news sites find the news before us :). But, for RA2 and TS mods, I usually tend to post something about them on other sites, mainly when a mod is released, so they can get more known around.

I have no participation on PRing BfME and HL mods. The best thing I can do is to post in the Frontpage News, which I kinda stopped posting since last month... I actually need to post about the release of Return of the Dawn (TS mod).

I am interested in this since my mod is getting very little public attention, (that and my mod is the ony Bf2 mod on revora) I would have posted earlier if I saw the topic.

I'd like to think this would benefit everyone, not just those who currently feel a bit left out.. However, the biggest problem I am currently facing is getting the information forms completed, as I do not know enough coding to make them myself.
