Thanks.

Here's a small update, mostly did work on the wooden beams and the side hallway (the wood frame on the side hallway doorway took about an hour and a half :p).

Early modeling of the adjacent living room.

Textures and lighting are very basic for now. Well, so is the model.

When I add in the light from all of the candles, it should look a little better.

Hopefully I can do a fly-through video once I'm done.

And the green door:

Uploaded a fly-through to youtube of the entrance hall. Hard to see all the detail I put into the scrolls and books and candlestick, but then again it already took 2.5 hours to render this video with horrible sampling values...

Still a WIP.

So here are some newer shots, but I'm stuck on the living room (the room directly to the side of the main entrance hall) because I can't figure out how to make the roof/walls. They're an odd curved/cylindrical shape...anyway here are a couple shots.

Keep in mind that the living room and the breakfast room are not well textured or lit, so they will look far worse than the main hall does.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.
Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell,
nor yet a dry, bare sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat:
it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.
It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green,
with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle.
The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel:
a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

Here's a newer shot. I keep getting stuck though, because I just don't know enough about lighting to continue and there aren't sufficient information or tutorials on the subject. Plus, trial and error doesn't fly with mental ray because it takes 2 hours for one render...Sigh. If anybody knows anyone or any forums that can offer help with mental ray/complicated 3D scenes, pleeeease help me! Thanks :p

CGtalk was good, and I think it's still around. Sci-Fi Meshes was ok too.

Looks great btw.

So I went back to the model I made of The Joker/Heath Ledger, and I found that the model itself was really sloppy. Plus, the texture was just a flat skin color with white paint over it. Anyway, I wanted to go back and make a real skin texture underneath it and to actually model in the face in good detail. I used the airbrush and projection tools in mudbox to paint on the texture.

Here's what I have so far, now it's just time to tweak it to look more like Heath Ledger:
