Likes: Online network, Bungie support, graphics(I would not be suprised if it ends up more powerful than the PS3 after what they said the PS2 could do), lots of serious games, controller improvement

Dislikes: It's all centered around an expensive online network, single-player exclusive games may be abandoned here, limited backwards compatability, price even without online network, needs the hard drive to play online

That has to be my biggest dislike of the Xbox 360. Its such a shame that they didn't concentrate on that :p

Well its software emulation.. In the end all titles will be playable. The PS3 might have the same problem btw, but i dont think it will work on software emulation.

And I wouldnt be too scared that single player gets abandonned.. look at the PC market, which has a huge online community and still gets some great SP games.. And why is everybody bitching about the harddrive.. you could also buy a Mem card, like you did with all other consoles.. never heard anybody bitching about that ¬_¬

With the Cube I only need one $30 memory card to save everything, not even teh newest one. With Micro, they have memory cards that can barely handle one Halo profile and the whole system is centered around stuff that you can't play without the latest patch which doesn't fit on a memory card. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it were a bit less than $100.

I don't like the fact that online costs more money. I'll just wait until the Revolution comes out. Free online play, and Metroid Prime 3 ;)

I'm with you Destroyer

The good things confirmed for MP3: Pretty much everything good about teh first two, the new controller setup (one of the E3 demos was MP2 rigged to use the new remote instead of the lock on system)

The thing I hope they fix: Why so many F*ing keys?

I don't own it because I am waiting for more games to be released.

I can't say anything about it because I haven't played games on it yet.

limited backwards compatability

Yes I agree but that is what happen to PS2 when it first came out so I hope the PS3 plays most of the games execpt blue disk. Check here for playable Xbox games on the 360: http://www.gamespot....type=all&page=0 .

XBOX 360 Plagued by Bugs and Crashes?
Posted by Joe Cashman on 25 November 2005 - 12:11 CET | 98 Comments and 147 Trackbacks Post a Comment
Reports on Neowin’s forums and other news sites are suggesting that those lucky enough to grab an Xbox 360 this week may be in for a tough ride, with reports of games crashing and even some suggestions of overheating.

Microsoft is having a tough time this week. Earlier in the week parents and gamers were rushing out to buy the console, finding out that it is sold out, and left wondering whether there will be more made available before Christmas. Now they have faced reports of bugs in games. Microsoft has said a “very, very small fraction” of console owners had called about this problem, which was in line with Microsoft predictions. They all said that anyone who sees this error should call the Xbox helpline. Ultimately, Microsoft has pledged to replace or fix any Xbox that has any errors.

yeah, there are some problems with adaptors made by 3rd parties, since MS couldnt make them all on their own. It makes some games freeze because of over heating. However MS has great customer support so you can just send your 360 to be fixed.

My Xbox 360 Theory.
I was talking to MM and I was thinking of this. The Xbox creates a EM Field like all electronics. Thus they needed to sheild it like the orig. xbox. They closed it in a metal casing with barley any holes for ventlation. It runs off of 2 Heating Pipes and a Small fan. MM was also saying that it could be a overheating Power Cord. Slashdot had a article about a guy who hung is Power Cord in the Air with a piece of string.

Its one of those typical first linup problem. Every product has it. Thats why its avicable to wait for the second shipment, since those are often fixed of these small bugs. Similar stuff will happen to the PS3 and Rev, its inevitable, lets just wait till it gets fixed

It's not inevitable. Microsoft rushed the release, if they took their time everything would be ok.

TankMaster, the PS, PS2, N64, GC, XBOX, PSP, DS, everything had similar problems. MS rushed it a bit, esspecially in Japan, they should rescedule the launch a month back there, to get more titles ready. The problem is that all previous consoles where always released in Japan first, so you hear less about their problems, because once they reach the US most of those problems are allready fixed.

But your kinda right, waiting another month would probably have been better, but its Holiday season, so I think its logical they're doing it now..

It's better not just to wait for the second wave...but also the third, fourth...all the way to about the fifteenth wave, some time in February. When the price will have plummeted :shiftee:

By then, there might be a few games for it, too.

I do hate the way they deliberately don't manufacture enough, hike the price to obscene amounts and then do the same with the games...it's pure greed. That's why I'm abstaining either forever or until games cheapen and/or impress me.

I'm not going to buy it for the shear reason of the buggy firmware and there being no HD dvd drive when there will be one in the next version.

Well the price is below production costs CJ, so they dont Hike the price.. just the amount of consoles. I beleave its selling 126USD below production costs. PS3 will be even lower, since BlueRay readers will be about 1000 bucks and the PS3 is forced to sell at 400USD in order not to be outsold by the xbox and rev.

The most expensive consoles and they still are below production costs? That's just weird.

A small fraction? I heard it was over half that had problems.

I think it's because they are focusing on things like graphics and special features not related to gaming. PS3 is doing the same. I'm not getting an Xbox 360 or PS3 for a while, but I will eventually (360: definetly eventually, PS3: when Sony decides to go above the medicore games they always have a massive supply of, Rev: Pre-ordering ASAP).

According to MS its well below 5%, you hear much more about the crashes due to the net.. the ultimate place to bicht about something :)

Oh and expect Nintendo to focus on special non-game features as well.. they want to get the family to gaming.. one of the reasons im not fully trusting the rev yet.. m afraid that the Rev will have games like Nintendogs Revolution and shit :s

Based on what I've seen so far, the Rev won't focus on anything but games.

Xbox 360:

Music: Downloadable, burning, etc. That's what PCs, iPods, CD players, even some cell phones are for. We don't need a console for this.

Graphics: No matter how good they are, you still need great gameplay. This seems to be the main thing Micro and Sony are showing off because they know they won't have many games with great gameplay.

Live: Just a way to make things more expensive because 90% of what it can do requires broadband, a hard drive, and an extra $50 a year. Plus all of the games seem to be designeed to not be much fun offline just as a cheap way to get more people on Live.

Revolution:

Graphics: 3 times more powerful than the Cube. That's all I need. It can probably turn out graphics that look almost completely realstic anyway.

Online: Centers around downloading entire games. Like I said, Rev's all about the games. Also good for playing online, naturally.

Music: Not as far as I know. I already have a CD player, so it's good that Nintendo isn't upping the price because of CD compatability.

Backwards compatability: Again, all about games.
