I've never shown a finished Voxel, nor have I released it in any form other than as a rendered preview of my model. I also didn't see anything saying 'all work must be made for the sole purpose of being entered into the competition' just that the voxel can't previously have been released.
Martin Killer, staffer of C&C Guild and leader of CnC Reactor - Polish C&C community, has decided to organize next voxel competition, since the last one was good while ago. The first concept was to attract Polish members of the community into the competition, but now, it has been decided to allow members from the whole C&C community to enter. The voxels will be judged in the following way:
- Details (normals, model appearrance) - 25%
- Concept and Creativity - 35%
- Scheme - 15%
- Technical Details (such as HVA) - 25%
Your submissions must be send to Martin Killer (e-mail available in the news item) and the time is set by December 15th, 2005. If you know Polish, you can view plenty of tutorials here or just take a look around our international community. Remember that there has been update of Voxel Section Editor III recently, so I think it can help you a lot. Wink
You might remember Voxel Grand Prix IV. The rules are quite similar as I see, with some changes in ways of judging (posted above). Submissions will be posted on CnC Reactor and YR Argentina short while after the results, and best will be featured as special downloads - winners of the competition.
Good luck for all the contestants!
1. Files made will be checked for authory, so entries of work from other people are invalid.
2. Adding every .vxl and .hva and any TurretOffset= tag if appliable is a must.
3. Voxels can either be based upon concept art or your own design. If you base it upon a concept art, and you explicitly say so, show the concept art too, so accuracy can be evaluated (it will only be judged for Originality or for Accuracy -see below- so be sure to weigh this when making your entry).
4. All the voxels submitted are made for public, so beware not to send any exclusive graphics, as from the point theyre submitted you have agreed they will be available
5. The entries dont need to be realistic nor merely fictional. Of course not abstract either. Dont limit yourself to show your creativity. However, dont be Picasso.
6. Only one entry per person is allowed, and you cannot edit it after you submit it, or you will be disqualified (Exception, you sent the wrong version of it, i.e: no normals, or no color)
7. All files must have remaps, visible clearly from every facing
8. Voxels that are rated more than 60% go to YrArg
9. Voxels that are already out cannot be entered
