Is there a way to remove the original skirmish maps without overwriting the maps.big?

Like throught ini?

No, I don't know... But I don't think so...

I beleive that it's hardcoded, so you'll have to overwrite the maps.big...

Take a look at mapcache.ini, located in maps/

these three lines are your friend.

isOfficial = yes
isMultiplayer = no
isScenarioMP = no

not sure you can edit mapcache.ini from a mod though
