Well said, Kwen. Because he died in the Second Age.

Can I add a note? I only found that out recently that Gil Galad died in the second age, I always thought he just retired or something o.o always wondered what happened to him. But yes, Gil Galad was killed by Sauron/Khamul I couldn't tell whome did it but most likely Sauron cause it said Gil Galad AND Elendil was killed by Sauron/Khamul. Anybody like to clear up who murdered the elf and the king?

Gil-Galad and Elendil were both slain while battling Sauron. Gil-Galad fell first after he got burnt by the heat of Saurons hand (I think) then Elendil delivered the final blow to Sauron, but died from his wounds

Elendil and Gil-Galad defeated Sauron but both perished in doing so. Isildur then used Narsil to chop the ring off Saurons hand

yes he chose not to destroy the ring and that is how Sauron survived. But Isildur was ambushed by orcs and was killed, thats how the ring was lost. Then Gollum found it? And then Bilbo stole it i think i'm not too sure i didnt reead the hobbit.

Gollum and Bilbo never fought over the Ring. Bilbo accidentally put it on, not knowing what it could do, but realized its powers when Gollum walked right by him. Gollum thought Bilbo knew the way out of the Goblin tunnels, so he headed for the exit, and Bilbo followed him and managed to get by him and escape. They never fought - the closest they came to fighting was Bilbo pulling out Sting and waving it in Gollum's face to keep him away.
