The next installment of Middle-Earth Monday is now live on the BFMEII website. This week we are treated to 2 new desktops, King Dain and the Mouth of Sauron as well as a pretty kickass track from the new musical score. Sounds like it belongs dubbed overtop of Arnold in Conan the Barbarian, but still awesome nonetheless.

Also got an email from Aaron (Apoc) regarding people in the beta who are experiencing game.dat crashes. Apparently the #1 cause for that is people using outdated video cards or outdated drives for their cards. Be advised that a GeForce 3 series card is the bare minumum needed to run the game. Also, the latest nVidia drives are available on their site, anyone running a 6600 GT is advised to update to those drivers as that is the card experiencing the most issues. Any drivers in the 70's range is now far too outdated to run the game effectively.

wow those specs are high... I'd almost have to buy a completely new computer to run this game. Bummer. This is not good for me and celeglin.

I am running an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ with 1 gig of ram and a GeForce 6600 GT and the game runs beautifully on full graphics. No frame lag.

When you have kissed as much industry ass as I have. :)

Just kidding. He sends those emails to the people who both went to the summit and who got the "pick 10 people for the beta" lists. With the idea, of course, that we would relay it to the community, which is what I am doing here. :D

Im surprised dial-up still exists to be perfectly honest with you

What video card did you end up buying. I'm looking to upgrade off my radeon 9800 at the moment

So, lets say a person is running the BETA on a GeForce FX5200. What would the person do. Im not saying I have 5200, but what would the person have to upgrade to?

There's no shame in having an FX5200, up until a year ago that's all I had in my machine.

If you want a new graphics card, I'd suggest a 6600GT since it offers a lot more quality over it's competitors for not much more and is well worth the investment, although bear in mind your likely only going to be able to run things on medium settings, with a few high.
If your willing to part with a bit more cash, look at the 6800GT, and then if your just looking for the best go with the 7800GTX. Obviously the 7800GTX will last longest, but it all depends on how much your willing to spend and how good you want the graphics.

If you want a new video card wait about 3 months. nVidia is going to be releasing their new flagship card then so we can expect prices on lower cards to drop significantly after that.
