Yes a question to the Americans/Yanks/Septics not the coffee at starbucks, doing the rounds at the weekend I was invited to an ice ring something I shall never do again, after becoming bruised, wet and cold we went to the park and bought some alcoholic bevarages and I got to know a few people two of them were Americans now looking at them they looked about 12 and I was like to my mate 'you peedo' and aparantly they are not 12 but 17 and I was like 'feck' and now I come to the general conclusion American girls look younger than they acutally are so yeah err anyone else comment?
FFS, lay off the sugar! And, erm, these: "." aren't rationed you know...
So, you're bad at guessing ages? You're better at guessing the ages of those who you're more familiar with? Big news.
Unless you've had lots of experience guessing, have been that age, or know lots of other countries' cultures well, it isn't all that surprising. And the more different the culture, the harder it is to guess.

Chav is a slang term which has been in wide use throughout the United Kingdom since 2004. It refers to a subcultural stereotype of a person with fashions such as flashy "bling" jewellery and counterfeit designer clothes, an uneducated, impoverished background, a tendency to congregate around places such as fast-food outlets or other shopping areas, and a culture of antisocial behaviour.
Wiki is your friend. And we don't have a name for a chav over here. We just usually ignore 'em.
Anyways...
It depends on the girl. I've seen 16 year old girls who look 12, 14 year old girls who look 17, and so on. (It doesn't matter to me, cuz I'm 15. I can pick from either part of the pool, being in the middle and all. ) It's not something which happens strictly here, as Blaat said. It happens all over.

The opposite happens too, people thinking you're older than you really are. Just look at your president, he looks like he's in his forties when he's really, what, twelve?
No, he really is forty physically.
I'm gonna get hit hard by Link.
Mentally, he is the equivilant of 6...

Because the media and the film industry are part of a culture and influence it .Wait.... when did the discusion turn to the US film industry and the media. Now I thought it was about American girls looking younger than they actually are. Oh there are American chavs they call them 'Jocks' or so I've been lead to belive.

I just think you're bad at guessing.. My personal experience learns that its not really per country, some people are younger, some are older. Though it is a fact that Yanks are often les tall than Dutch and Germans for example, so that could have to do with it
