While this idea of Japan was originally thought of from this article.
http://forums.revora...showtopic=28497
Thier site: http://www.hot.ee/in...n/JapanHome.htm

My idea is radically differant from the original. So it appears we can have two mods based on the same country but with differant mod ideas.

My idea is to have feudal japan as a mod background, while limiting the player to only one faction. Japan. Through the use of limited upgrades, you'll be able to specialise your faction into how your strategic plan fits your personalitly type.

Here is the original units based on my creation.

Infantry:

Peasant: Armed peasants have thier value as cheap, fast build time, and slightly potent. Give a peasant a pitchfork and send him off to battle.

Peasant Archer: Simple, cheap, and shoots arrows.

Peasant Horsemen: Mounted troops trained to fight from horses. Lightly armored but rather mobile. More a skirmish unit.

Samurai Infantry: (backbone infantry)

Samurai Foot Soldier: basic fighting unit that is a qualified foot soldier. Sort of like a Uruk. After some upgrades, can be very powerful.

Samurai Archer: While all Samurai are trained to fight with swords, they can toggle between swords and bows as needed. Weaker than Samurai foot soldiers in melee, they do great as armored archers.

Samurai Calvary: The heavy calvary of the Samurai, trained to fight from horses, they are the heavy calvary of Gondor style.

Samurai Hobilars Oddly this unit is trained as infantry who happen to ride horses to get to the battle, but do not fight on horses. The hobilar is a much used and little mentioned unit type from this era. They are infantry that can toggle mount, ride all over creation, than toggle back to troops to fight. Weak while fighting on horseback, they are trained as mobile fast response units.

Specialized Units All ninjas will be invisible units...and can climb walls like goblins.

Ninja Mercenary: A small horde of ninjas that have powerful attack capabilities but poor defense. So they are fast, cloaked, hit and run units. You wouldn't attack a bunch of samurai with them unless you were causing a distraction or it was a hit and run. Cloaked and able to climb walls, They will infilitrate your base if you don't watch. Can toggle between Sword or throwing stars.

Ninja Assasin: One simple unit who only has one goal, to kill enemy heroes. Tough defense so they survive, damage that affects heroes more than other units. A great Hero counter. They will have some unique abilities to counter heros. (Magic resistance and such...)

Ninja Archer: Ninja support units, less capable than ninja Mercenaries in melee, they can still toggle between sword and bow.

Siege Weapons: After some research I did find the feudal japanese did use catapults and a form of the trebunket.

This idea is drastically differant from thier idea but uses the same country. While I did rip the idea from them on the Japan thing, I do believe we can also create a differant mod based on the same country but done differantly from what they proposed.

No europeans or other factions. Simply just one faction with alot more units and room for expansion than thiers. Thiers will be superior because it will have many factions, something we cannot compete with. We simply don't have the time.

So thier mod will be more complex and obviously superior on the factions. We will keep it simple and only one faction and let the players play against each other as one faction seeking control over the island of Japan.

I hope this clears up things and defines the roles of each mod. The differences are very apparent.

I agree. I would much rather play a 1 Faction Highly detailed Japan Mod then alot of not-so-detailed factions... GO Hostile!

the point is you having fun making the mod, and not just rivalising with that of Hostile.

However, be aware that making a TC isn't the work of 2 days, and that unlike Hostile, you don't really have a team set up (yes I read on your site, you have 1 coder and 1 modeller, not enough to consider completion in the coming 2 years)

the site has not been updated in ages but im not trying to rival hostile there is no point of having 2 pretty much same mods so hostle can do what he wants im not trying to rival him and i know a mod cannot be completed in 2 days im not dumb :(

This is the EXACT reason I do map.ini, No fear of ridicule + you can do it by yourself... Problem is map.ini has its limitations...

I'd love if we worked together if we are trying to achieve the same goal. I'd like a merge of the two if we can work together.
