For sturctures, it would make sense to model use the models, but I was thinking it might be interesting if I can find enough support images for ancient jap artwork.

I like the idea of ancient japanese artwork, are you thinking old-style watercolors of battles? Do you have any examples, or enough basic art to do each unit?Question, for cameos, do you all think I should use the units in action or choose from ancient japanese artwork to display the units cameo?

It appears the word daimyo may best be suited as the name of the citadel. Care to construct a Daimyo anyone?
An interesting historical timeline. http://www.wsu.edu:8...AN/TIMELINE.HTM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daimyo
Daimyo 大名
Literally meaning "big name". In the Tokugawa period, the Daimyo were all the samurai whose revenues were superior to 10,000 koku of rice (or about 50,000 bushels or 1,510,000 liters - one koku of rice is enough to feed one person for one year).
Daimyo had domains with retainers (samurai) onto which they had considerable power. The few hundreds Daimyo domains of the Tokugawa age were reorganized into prefectures in the late 1800's by the Meiji administration.
daimyo, again:
The daimyo were the leaders behind the samurai and the best samurai. The daimyo also gave help in controlling Japan from the early twelfth century until the 1800’s and the end of the samurai. These leaders commanded loyalty among the samurai, partly because most of the daimyo were samurai once themselves. After the samurai had established a place in Japan, the settling into society began in many ways.

Er, if they had 1,510,000 liters worth of rice or above, where do they keep it?
You forgot to say, mustering "big armies". They were the big guys.
