We live in a society that is ultimately a selfish one. Most of the wealth in the world is concentrated within about two percent of our countries. Worldwide, it's nearer 0.1%.

Presently, the world is divided between complete decadence and overwork and utter poverty and starvation. In the first world, people work for more or less the same amount as we did before there were machines or computers or robots, and all employment is designed in such a way that a small group of people will profit far more from your work than you ever do. In the third world, people are starving and have no healthcare, education, or clean water. Almost all third world countries have a dominant non-white population.

We are run by either dictators or one of two practically identical political parties that swap power over the years. This is excluding the parts of our life where corporations bombard us with advertising ordering us to waste our money on shit we don't need or want to make us feel better about ourselves.

Why do we tolerate it?

Because we are fools kal, we have fallen into the trap of conditioning ourselves. Redfox here is a prime example of that. He seems to think power comes from the government where it comes from the people. The illusion is that people are misled into believing they need the government, the reality is the government/elite need us as we give them the power to change the world into whatever they want it to be. Its an illusion that has lasted 10,000years and will continue until humanity wakes up to the veil of ignorance we have pull over our own very eyes.

If everyone just realised and said "No" we want a better work, then took the responsibility of the world into their own hands, we could make this reality what we have always dreamed. The conditioning we have been given within society is that we a powerless, but we are infact more powerful than beyond our wildest dreams. I just wish everyone would wake up to that and realise the responsibility is ours and only ours, not theirs.

The truth of the matter is that most of those "1st world countries" ,the top 2%, have had to recover from no less than 2 World Wide Conflicts. The wealth these countries posses is a result of hard work and jumping to opportunities.

The poor countries have never been able to produce any sort of stable government and foreign add often flowed directly into the pockets of corrupt politicians.

Although some steps are needed like paying fair prices for products from those "poor" countries, the first step for those "poor" should be to establish a stable government.
They should be more open to new production methods as well.
And a number of other possibilities hould be explored.

However a stable government is the first requirement if those countries want to survive.

Like the communist/socialists like to say "Power to the People".
If you realize that the govenment is corrupt and you are in a position to change it but dont do anyting, then you become responsible for the government's actions as well.

If the people consist of only starving Africans in tents, then the government is probably also a collection of starving Africans in tents. The government tends to be a representation of the people.

That's a short time solution, not a structural one.

I once heard a statement from an african economist who said that it would be best if the western world stopped it's aid to Africa.

He argued that it was this aid which kept Africa dependant and stopping the aid would in the long run help make Africa economically less dependant on the west.

And that will make a difference? I think he's making a fair point, actually. All of you except Tom have basically just said 'Fuck You' to every third-world nation, and have kissed the Long Johns of people who do absolutely no work, make their inferiors do all the work and then go on to reap far more money in a year than the inferiors will ever see in a lifetime.

So do I. However capitalism itself has made everyone isolate themselves, not believing thy neighbour as thou believest he be trying to stealeth frm thee.

I'll pay for your airfare to live in Somalia.

You didn't read, either. He was trying to fight a case FOR the Somalians getting better help. Is it right that the top 1% hold nearly all the world's wealth, yet the bottom 10 or so can barely survive at all?

Go change, not bitch.

That, or you've just turned a blind eye to events in Libya and elsewhere on that God-forsaken continent. The government steals everything (which, granted, isn't a fantastic amount) and leaves the people with nothing in most of them.

By selling your comp, you could feed a couple of Africans for quite a while...

 And again, we see the big 'Fuck You'.

I really don't see how it's fair that those 1% of the world are allowed to exploit the other 99%, some more than others, to feed their own greed. Africa never really had a fair crack of the whip. What little they did produce was stripped away by everybody else, and half their populace were carted off to the West Indies. And they've never got out of the bracket of 'SLAVE'.

Writing off 3rd-world debt would help their economy, purely because they would be able to spend the money on what is important. They won't do it, though.

i find it hopeless that the western world is abusing the third world the way it does. its the modern style of slavery. but i don't really imagine a proper way of helping these countries until the day we manage to get a marked which puts focus on humans and not product.

the western world has alot of power, and we use that for our own gain. its a international slavery of those who does not have resources to compete with us.

the question is, how the hell to change that...

Well then, you see? There's a solution. But we aren't using it.

the western world has alot of power, and we use that for our own gain. its a international slavery of those who does not have resources to compete with us.

This is as much a point in a single corporation as in the entire world.

the question is, how the hell to change that...

Did too!

What I'm just noticing, is that Kal, and Tom for that matter, constantly complains about this world, yet the globalisation and commercialism they hate so much, is partially represented by computers. He still partakes in what he hates so much, which sounds pretty hypocrite.

And telling us here on the internet will help?

I can find myself in the ideas that Hernando de Soto had; The main problem of Third World Countries is bureaucracy. It takes over a year to officially set up business in such a country. That way, people are reliant on 'our' corporations for their goods. These people can't use their own products, simply because their bureaucracy prevents them from creating their own companies.
