I got my copy of The First Decade, so I finally was able to play some RA2/YR mods, i.e. True War, Blitzkrieg I & Code Red.

They got me wondering about D-day. So I went looking through the forum, but still some questions remain unanswered:

- I see AI sends engineers to repair bridges.

- I see destroyed units leave debris behind. (like in TW  )

- I see the income system is based on this (ore->scrap metal).

Although original, I suggest using only oil derricks because harvesters are the 1st thing AI attacks and it spoils the game.

- Will the AI also attack my ground units with their air units?
- If so, will they attack infantry as well? (in CR stingers are )

- Will air units defend their base automatically? (like the airfield in Blitz )
- If so, will buildable air units also defend & will their guard range be larger?

- Will the infantry be able to drop down (automatically when attacked)?
- If so, will less visible mean less damage taken + more accuracy mean more damage done?

sorry for editing after you quoted me, but I hadn't seen you posted yet, anywho, they were only some cosmetic changes... btw. I don't think it's very tactically minded attacking a harvester, as scrap metal will be found primarily in the frontline...

I see AI sends engineers to repair bridges.

Bridges are now indestructible...

I see destroyed units leave debris behind (like in TW) thumbsupsmiley.png and the income system is based on this (ore->scrap metal).

Yes, as of now tho only a few units do this as it's quite a job to do the Gfx & code etc.

Although original I suggest only using oil derricks because harvesters are the 1st thing AI attacks and it spoils the game.

A tactically mined AI spoils the game eh :)

Will the AI attack my units/my base with ground and air units at the same time?

If so, will the air units attack infantry/ground units (other than AA) as well? (in CR stingers were very handy)

These are questions for Andre.

Will the infantry be able to deploy and get a bonus for that (out of sight - lesser impact)?

If so, could they deploy automatically when attacked?

No & no

Will ground/air units defend their base automatically (like the airfield in Blitz)?

If so, what would be their guard range?

Fighter planes can be set to patrol an area using waypoints, they will then engage any enemy units that come with in range. The guard range is 15cells but when they are used with waypoints the range becomes whatever size you make the patrol loop really.

Combined attacks...yes, is there any other kind?

Nothing will be safe from airpower. Don't even think a blanket of AA will protect you. If you want to survive you'll have to actively engage the enemy land/air/naval forces.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Andre 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I meant to ask if the AI airpower will attack my ground units too? Cause when I charge with a Maus nothing's safe...

I already answered that. Nothing is safe and this includes landforces.

I made them invulnerable for several reasons but the main one is that by doing this it means I can increase the amount of bridge types I can make too 8 (or even 11) instead of the standard 4 that are in RA2 & so greatly increases the possibilities for maps.

Me likes to sabotage teh line of commie tanks passing along zee 3rd Reich's bridge!

I mean no disrespect Mig, but Zero Hour gave us indestructable bridges. Pls, pls, pls don't give us that one with your awesome WW2 tc :( What good is a thousand bridge type with their orgasmic eye-candies if you can't blow them to bits?

What good is an urban type bridge in the middle of a jungle...

By doing this I can add 2 types of temperate, urban, asian & train bridges!

As much as I love destroying bridges while forces attempt to cross, I agree with Mig here. If everything else is so perfect, bridges will just end up looking out of place.

Hmmm, guess Mig's right, my bad

Ok, I can't modify out of a paper bag with RA2/YR, but if you atleast make them only destroyable and not repairable, will it still hinder the vision of an increased amount of bridge type?

I just discovered D-Day today and I'm already excited about it. It looks beautiful! I'm not too mod savvy and I haven't seen the question before, so I have a question. Can I still play D-Day without Yuri's Revenge? I of course havve Red Alert 2, but no YR. Just a thought. Thanks

:) You'll need to get YR and the Rock Patch. And the YR:1.001 patch (I think?)

Most likeky, yeah. Most mods have to be made with 1.001 for some reason that eludes me...

OLD SIG
When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself,
first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land,
and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain.

YR 1.01 introduced expandmd so the game could read md files.
