Hello,

i'm very new to this forum and only just started to look at more in depth to BFME. I managed to understand the basics of modding, by opening the INI.BIG file with final big and tracing structures etc. So population caps, build costs etc aren't a problem for me to edit.

What i find very confusing is the following:

1. I want to have Aragorn in my Gondor faction in skirmish mode. Is this actually possible?
2. When i look at the goodfactions, to my surprise, Aragorn belongs already to Gondor. However, he shows up at Rohan, not Gondor. I was expecting Aragorn belong under data\ini\objects\goodfactions\units\rohan\aragorn.ini but instead he shows up under gondor\aragorn.ini. And looking at Aragorn.ini it shows: Side = GondorAragon while i was expecting RohanAragorn. I find this very confusing...

So i was wondering: what do i need to edit in order to get Aragorn to my Gondor faction in skirmish mode?

And looking through the other heroes ini files: i see elrond, galadriel, haldir etc. I figure that if it is possible to have Aragon join Gondor, this must also be possible for elrond etc.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Kind regards

Michel

Hallo Michel, goed om een nieuwe member te hebben die ook Nederlands is. Ik zal je wel helpen om je Aragorn bij Gondor te krijgen.

Don't bother editing the ini.big in FinalBig. Extract it into your BFME folder. (waar je het geinstalleerd hebt) Then go into that, click the data folder, then the ini folder. Open up playertemplate.ini

Look for Gondor and their buildable heroes. You should see GondorBoromir GondorFaramir GondorGandalf GondorPippin. Add GondorAragorn for that, or for his Strider outfit, add GondorAragornMP

Mocht je nog vragen hebben, stel ze.

Elrond, Gwaihir and Isildur can be added without a problem (you may wish to add some special powers to them though). The others, inc. Galadriel, Haldir etc. I don't think were completed by EA so they won't appear as far as I know unless you download models for them. I'd recommend just using existing mods if you want those characters in game.

There is a T3A tutorial on adding Haldir using Legolas' skills and model too if that is of any use.

I dont know if anyone said this yet but the file gondor/aragorn.ini and GondorAragorn are just names. They have no influence on what faction he actually plays on. For example, you could rename him Strider or ChubbyAragorn if you wanted to, and as long as you referred to him as such it would work. What does determine what faction he plays for, as Matias says, playertemplate.ini. So just add GondorAragorn to the end of the line that says BuildableHeroes under FactionGondor.

Many thanks to all. I edited the playertemplate.ini and it worked right away! Never thought that would be so easy. I'm going to delve a little deeper though. I read about adding factions and this sounds very interesting too. I think i'm beginning to understand the logics behind BFME.

Thanks again

I've added Aragorn to Gondor aswell but by doing that he misse's out on Anduril spellbook power is there a way to get that to gondor or is there a way to get it at a upgrade for example when he levels up to level 5 anduril will be activated.

There is a tutorial on T3A which you should be able to use to help with this. You need to look at and amend these files:

Aragorn.ini
CommandSet.ini
Experiencelevels.ini
Playertemplate.ini
