You have a maximum of 40 seconds to get it on before exposure is deadly. If you have long hair or a beard you can't put it on tightly or it will get caught. Gas masks arn't coats lol.

I doubt the army is in gas all the time, unless their food is really messed up .

That's not really the point i was trying to make blaat, i was just wondering why you think that people making you have short hair is such a terrible thing in the army. Its not just so they can tell you what to do or make you all look the same...

Its like working with machinery in the warehouse, you're not allowed to have long hair near those machines even tied back is a health hazzard. This is just the same but in another environment.

That's not why. It's because if you have long hair and look unkempt, it's not proper military grooming. You're supposed to look sharp and uniform.
You can clip it up anyways.

Maybe, just maybe it's another one of those stupid stereotypes saying "guys should not have long hair". Anyway I for one do believe long hair looks good (not on everyone, but short hair doesn't look good on everyone either).

The second guy looks friendlier than the first guy though, because of the grin and not the 'I hate this job' look . Not related to the hair though.

I don't agree with ali. At all. But, it doesn't look sharp or military when you have long hair. Everyone is supposed to look the same, and it's not supposed to be a beauty contest. In addition to keeping a military bearing you are supposed to be well groomed, you don't just represent yourself but your country.

I suppose then if you go into the army, you are maybe no longer treated as an individual and maybe no longer respected for being you, but only for being 'yet another one of those soldiers'?
