Dark Rock (Goth Rock's new generation) is basically what we know as Evanescence, The Rasmus & Within Temptation. These are practically the goth bands that lack the 'musical/instrumental power' to be called Goth Metal. Goth Metal being stuff like Lacuna Coil/HIM.
Goth Rock (according to the jerrygoths) would include bands like: London After Midnight, The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy etc.
Kick me if I'm wrong. Or just add some more stuff I forgot.

There's not one bit of screaming in any Evanescence or Within Temptation song. I can't remember any in Lacuna Coil song, either.
So stfu nubcake Though I don't like the four million labels given to the same one or two genres. Symphonic really comes underneath Dark Rock and Dark Metal, if you're gonna put it like that. I really don't like to use the term 'Metal', which implies going overkill with the guitar and massive grunting that would prove Ali right, but the bands I listen to from the category have none (or almost none) of that.

Evanescence was okay, London After Midnight was pretty good too but the rest were kinda meh. Maybe that's just my speed/thrash/heavy metal self talking though.

Too cute! | Server Status: If you can read this, it's up |Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

Ali, you should actually LISTEN to some Evanescence or Within Temptation. May I suggest My Immortal or Memories (each by those two bands respectively).
There's not one bit of screaming in any Evanescence or Within Temptation song.
My Immortal is an excellent one
Actually, Bring me to Life (if that's the right name... dunno, will check CD when I get home) has a little scream in it, just a 1 liner though but drowned out by guitars so it's barely noticable.
