i'm not really binding experienced, but can't you just bind it to the arm/hand bone?

You don't so much bind it to a bone rather you attach it. Button found in upper left. If I understand you correctly.

If you are getting the 'Could not bind, would create dependency loop' error, then click on the shield, go to Edit/Clone and then press OK, then delete the old shield and bind the cloned shield like you did the body. (I link it to wwskin, then press 'Link to Bone' then click on the bone I want). Or you go to 'Link to bone by name' and click on BAT_SHIELD if there is one, it may be called something different.)

To explain a dependency loop more clearly:

This happens when the shield mesh is added to the wwskin along with all the bones. Then when you try and bind the shield mesh to a bone in the wwskin, renx reads it as binding the wwskin with itself, hence a dependency loop, something depending on itself. You can either clone it, or remove the shield mesh from the wwskin.

I just redo my WWSkin, make sure you add no meshes when making your WWSkin.
