well this is sort of off topic but in the same ball park but i think later on when some of the mods get farther in production we should have some way of having a dedicated lan party with at least three games for each mod depending on the populaity the more popular the more games, is this a feasible idea or is it some thing that is completely absurd

shout box = bad Idea.

I had a shout box at C&C Central, but removed it before I opened. It screwed up loading and had other bad effects.

If you want an example of a shoutbox gone wrong go to http://suddenstrike.cncguild.net I've asked sydr0 to remove it before, and I may ask him again.

I think you should do that yes... damn why are people so unseeing these days. Do we have that sort of people here?

Before using a shoutbox i'll try other options.
I used Ori's IRC room the other day for about 1 minute, before ping pong! kicked me.
I'll give phpMyChat another go, as that did not need any tools or silly Java script to use it.

Yes the shroudbox or scoutbox or snoutbox or shoutbox whatever you may call it can be abused far too quickly if the incorrect class of people is present in a relatively small number.

Maybe we should just test it on a relatively popular part of the network and see if it work. If it doesn't we can still screw it

I simply despise shoutboxes. They're a source of n00bness and stupidity. I had one on my site and let me tell ya, no good. I took more shit from the CGEN crew than I did at their forums. It was bad.

Yeah, I was talking to Dark Dragon about the SS shoutbox. He said he'd think about removing it.

Bottom line: They're bad. Don't use it. For any reason. Ever.

Lets leave the shoutbox and think about an IRC chat room.

How many people would use it?
Would anyone like to be a moderator?

Would someone like be the Char Room Leader (like a forum has an admin)?

IRC chat room is pretty kewl, I was the one that suggested it before...
I could help with the moderation if you'd like, I've been using IRC for a while for... well... things :) so I'm really experienced with it. I have a few nifty scripts and I can log the room whenever I'm in. I also have an auto-kicker for spamming, asking for ops, and other things. Many other scripts but you'd have to see 'em.

I dislike IRC, it has a few flaws. But go ahead with it anyway.
Be warned I may decide to test my new PHP spam-bot developed for comical purposes only - it's unbannable! :o
It doesn't say much mind, it's just comical to see u try to get rid of it :)

When you call it "an IRC" I'm sure you haven't... :) :)
It's pretty much a chat program... on a much larger scale...
