The Republic of Auroria
Government Type: One-party democracy
Economic System: Anarcho-Syndicalism
Government Stance: Economic Left/Right: -9.88, Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.98
Population: 80 million
Capital: Union city
Monetary Unit: Union Coin (being phased out)

-Historical-
Formerly a loose coalition of contitutional monarchies and democracies, the Aurorian Republic is a very new nation built after years of bloody civil war. Auroria was formerly a loose union of nations, held together by a mutual need for protection before the first Aurorian Civil War. A revolution that happened in one country rather spontaneously overthrew the government and proceeded to rule the country as a socialist republic for a few weeks until most of the army, which was posted abroad, returned to fight the rebellion.

The new republic defeated the army thanks to support from militia from other countries in the region. Over the next year, the revolution spread to other countries and a revolution and extremely bloody civil war erupted during which the revolutionaries eventually triumphed and united all the countries into a new union.

A great document called 'the people's charter' was drawn up and voted by referendum with 67% of the vote. It changes many laws, such as severely restricting the role of the state and making conscription illegal.

-Political-
The nation is presided over by one government which presides over foreign policy and nationwide economic policy. Regional politics are run by trade unions. The parliament, which is virtually without rules, is a debating-house, with issues voted by compulsory electronic referendum available to all citizens.

Union City is the capital city despite it's medium size. This is due to it being the original city of the revolution, and is further ahead of the other cities, being split into seperate communes, almost completely collectivised. It is surrounded by snowy peaks.

The environment is also looked after, with cars being banned entirely from cities and replaced with public transport. There are very strict limits on pollution and recycling is mandatory.

-Economic-
Currency is currently being phased out with collectivism of goods being introduced on a regional scale. Currently vouchers are issued which allow people to obtain large amounts of certain goods (E.g. food) for free each month.

Both vouchers and money are issued to each citizen equally. Those not in work recieve a 'subsidary allowance' which provides enough for them to live on and a small amount of luxuries. Those who are in any form of employment enjoy the full benefits of the nation, and work is around 4 hours per day, 4 days a week.

-Social-
All citizens enjoy very lax social laws which allow people to do virtually anything as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. The class sytem has been abolished with all former monarchies and aristocracies having been eradicated, the palaces either destroyed or opened up as public museums.

All drugs are legalised and all forms of censorship are banned.

Citizens do not have the right to bear arms and firearms are not allowed, even for the police force, who have a very small presence in the country. The right to bear arms rests solely with the trade unions (see Military.)

-Religious-
Conventional religions have taken a backseat (most churches and mosques were destroyed during the 2nd civil war) and have become replaced to some extent with ideology such as anarchism, humanism, internationalism, and veganism.

-Cultural-
A mix of various (often contrasting) cultures formerly belonging to individual nations before the union was created.

All forms of art are encouraged and all forms of censorship are banned. Many of the leading politicians subscribe to philosophy reminiscent of native american indians, which can be seen in the country's regard to the environment.

-Education-
Apart from fundamental mathematics and the national language, all education is freeform and students are allowed to study what they wish. Higher education takes the form of either studying for a job or studying a subject in-depth. All forms of education are free for all ages.

-Healthcare-
Healthcare is provided for free on a regional scale.

-Geographic-
Huge snowy mountainous peaks sweeping down into dense jungles with hills in between. The capital, Union City, is buried in a dense mountainous area, and is comparatively small compared to other cities such as Arsakia and the sprawling metropolis of Miran. The moutanins are at their highest in the south-west of the country, sweeping down to hilly areas, with more hills in the south-east. The coastal area comprises flat beaches in the east with tall, craggy peaks in the west. Most of the land on the west is dense jungle.

-Military-
Military service is entirely voluntary and all soldiers are free to enlist and leave as they wish. Conscription is outlawed in the people's charter. Because of this, the military is very small but highly-equipped and mostly mechanised. However, great patriotism for the country means that a large reserve of volunteers can be counted on should a defensive war break out.

Despite a well-equipped military, the soldiers and militias are trained largely in guerilla warfare, which the country is perfectly adapted to with it's jungles and mountains.

In addition, the right to bear arms rests solely with trade unions, who can call a state of emergency at any time in the event of an invasion or to overthrow a corrupt government, in which citizen militias will be formed.

Official estimates show under 500,000 soldiers on duty. Unofficial estimates however show a number closer to 800,00 soldiers, many officially disbanded since the civil war but still active. Most of the mechanised divisions have been destroyed during the civil war and most of the current military is low-tech. Guerilla methods are planned for defense, and many tunnel networks, bunkers, and makeshift defences have been left up in case of attack.

The overall military unit count (some units may be omitted):

Airforce (30):
Air superiority fighters - 20
Tactical fighters - 8
Tactical bombers - 2

Armored Units (60):
MBTs: 60

Support Units (70):
Missile Delivery Systems: 18
APC units: 52

Infantry Divisions (201):
each division average soldier count: 1000 men
