well, dont get me wrong, this mod rocks and i cant wait for it to come out, but, thunderbolts were not deep space fighters, the imps used starhawks and starfuries in space i dont mind if it isnt changed or whatever, just for more accuracy

i've read a black library story involving marauders and thunderbolts in a deep space battle against an ork rock...thing, so yeah, they'll do nicely

It also says that they are used both as space fighters and surface fighters in the Imperial Armour, if anything the BFG rules are probably out of date and so are the miniatures.

i think the overlod is a wonderful vessel, i'll vouch for it, worry not.

Just a side note for accuracy.

Marauder bomber, thunderbolt and lightning are all primarily astmosphere aircraft, however all except the marauder are VTOLs and all are space-flight capable as all have Ram-jet and Ram-rocket engines. These three aircraft were the mainstay of the navy pre-heresy and during, post-heresy they are being phased out as it were to make way for the two newer designs. However many Battlefleets still use the out-dated aircraft, at the start of the gothic sector war, most of the sectors carriers still had the older aircraft.

The post-heresy and current mainstay of the navy are the starfury figther and starhawk bomber, both are truely massive aircraft and are pure space-designs, meaning they can't operate in an atmosphere.

I think its the other way around, however it is tho, we are using these, cuz theres no real pics of the starfurys and shit, even if there were we'd still use these.

gw did actually produce starhawk and fury models for bfg, mind. but there's fuck all else about them. we KNOW what the thunderbolt looks like and we'll stick to it

@Boomerang: Nope thats the right way round.

GW does make Starfuries and starhawks, they are the only figthers and bombers used in the game i might add, as GW doesn't make the other figthers and bombers.

The reason why many choose to use the thunderbolts and marauaders in novels is simple, they know what these look like as FW have been making and improving these designs for years.


They only thing truely known aboutt he starfury itself is the fact that its big, faster than the thunderbolt and lightning, has two crew, has sheilds and a large variety of weapons. There has been some effort to describe what they look like in the BFG novels of Execution Hour and Shadow point.

There's a t i n y drawing of a fury from the side in the bfg manual, that's about it:P

as you said, forge world has been revising and improving the thunderbolt for a long time and we know exactly what it looks like, what it does and anything else we want..

Doing a few searches via google, i have managed to find a few pictures. they are models created for a mod, upon further investigation I have found that its for a BFG mod for Homeworld2.

That mod btw looks amazing, so yours better be as good!!! only j/k... shame its dead though :(

To my knowledge this is the second time a mod has been started for HW2, both are dead, so is a version for HW, theres also two currently running for DoW, however i fully expect these too die out as well.
