Name: The Democratic Repuplic of Yuktobania
Government Type:Democracy
Economy: Capitalism
Geographic Location: 17
Country population:17.85 million
Starting military: 20,000 infantry, 150 T-80 tanks with crews, 30 BMP-3 APC's with crews, 6 squadrons of MiG-29 Fulcrums with crews, 1 squadron of Su-47 Berkuts with crews, 3 squadrons of Su-32 Platypus aircraft with crews
Ideological Standing:Economic Left/Right: -4.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.64

As neighbors of the Aecean Union, the Democratic Republic of Yuktobania heavily favors the same policies and laws of the AU. The land of Yuktobania is a dry, landlocked country, except for the western plains. Since Yuktobania is mostly landlocked, it concentrates more on ground and air superiority, rather than the sea. The main weapon at the Yuke arsenal is their Su-47 Berkut squadron, nicknamed Razgriz. The main sources of income is a medium-sized oil field to the east of the country.

Yeah, that's right, now the Yukes are in this too. :p

OLD SIG
When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself,
first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land,
and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain.

Heh. Shame really, that I'm basically filling the roles of both the Yukes and the Belkans of AC05 :p

Btw, could I respectfully ask you change the Berkut to something else? Me and Spence are jointly researching it...use that other plane..the YF-somethingorother, or the X-02 :shiftee:

EDIT: @Crave and Nology: BTW, when the big war starts, I get Yellow Squadron ;)

OOC: I guess I can do that, Paradox. But, when the time comes, I'd like to buy a squadron or two when they're finished. Is that okay?

I've already got the X-02... And the Falken... You can have the YF-23 Black Widow...?

Or I can donate a squadron of Wyverns to you...?

You're perfectly welcome to buy the Berkut when Spence and I have produced sufficient numbers.

I dread to think of the total cost of Crave's military...it's higher-tech than mine by quite a way...the 8492nd and Yellow Squadron will put paid to that, tho :p

My military costs a ton...

But that's also why I only have .9% of my pop enrolled. Majority of the cash goes to R&D and upkeep, along with a small portion in logistics.

I admit, I've absolutely no idea how my nation's economy keeps going. 72million total armed force, plus new developments etc...though it is pretty self-contained. Belka's probably more Communist in policy, more Fascist in authoritarianism.

It's Stalinism without the 'comrade' title, or the millions being worked to death in gulags. Though that can be arranged. ;)

Damn I thought it was 7.2 million which is damn impressive. 72 million? Are you sure Ash? I have .75 million man army. 7 million would more than do the job and keep it realistic. Somewhat. :p Just take your population times it by 3%-7% and that should be the tops for your army.

That should result in at least a 7.2 million based on .03 of the population. Up to 16.8 million based on .07 level, most a country can support. :(

Indeed. His total pop is upwards of 2 billion.

My military is 12 million strong.

To equal top notch ratio of tech Belka should have 7.5 million man army, that would be the same percentage as the US has.

You could have more if you use a less tech than the US. But we have 320 million people and a one milllion man army. Under those comparisons I did this analysis.

2.4 billion population = 7.5 million man army same ratio as US. Sounds fair to me. China can't boast that. :p

This does not take into account conscripts this is just compared to the US all volunteer army.So an army of 12 million based on you population seems ok. But Au using US standards will be somewhere around 5-7.5 million man army.

AU having 9 % of the population in an army. :p That just isn't right....

I changed it to 3%.

I figger I'll let me nukes do the talking...

NationStates, where some of the ideas for this game came from, said that 2% was a perfectly acceptable percentage...

Under those stats, the US would have a 6.4 million man army. Just doing the math. That would be 2%

I have recommitted most of my army to reserves, which is now the biggest chunk of the armed forces. Note that Belkan strategies are generally not unlike the old Soviet ones. Men are expendable. So are vehicles. Sheer weight of numbers will win the day. Strategy is something Belkans tend not to employ in masses. Blitzkrieg and charges. That's the Belkan way. A good portion of those which are not reserves are tech staff and other ancillaries, not actual fighting men.

And also be aware that that is mostly because Belka has a five-year national service obligation. Most of them are stationed at backwater posts, or are basically the police force. The reserves are just recently-out-of-national-service civvies who could be called upon to re-enlist before a draft is enforced.

There is also a further reason for this massive number of troops which I've already explained to Crave, possibly to Hostile and Kal.

I will, however, recommit yet more to reserves and disband a large chunk if people still feel it's excessive.

You are well aware that the Soviet Union along with numbers had some good strategy involving specialised battle groups, which would win the day without heavy losses? That was well in the 60s though :p

ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

Well the Soviets only won because of a push of numbers. By 1945, they still had mega "Tank Armies" which were a combination of two or three tank divisions (A Soviet corps was roughly equivalent to one German division), and about ten infantry divisions. That's something the Germans were able to avoid in the mid-30s.
I've got a small, very professional army, like Hostiles, weighing in at about 750,000, but I have a large number of reservists in case of conflict (Much like most European countries in the 1930s and 40s).
