I think Empire at War is a good game, but I wouldn't exactly say it's something special. It can be fun, but it's not really a game that I find myself wanting to play day after day.

But yeah, that can be frustrating. It's nice though that you can immediately put a ship there once one has died. Though of course it'd be more efficient if you could put all of the ships there at once. The graphics are very good though, and the cinematic view can be nice to watch now and then.
I haven't tried skirmish out yet. Must work differently as you can't build up an army as such, but before trying that out I'll finish the Empire campaign first .
Hostile, do let us know further opinions when you have them, if you want .

First of all, do I simply just use Y-wings to diasable them and the transport picks them up on thier own? I guess it doesn't really say.
The space battles are a mess and confusion. Trying to find my Y-wings are like quick click on something and hopes its them. And I'm like where the fuck are my units.
I can only use the visual icon to determine which unit is which, and whatever mess shows up on the bottom so I can click on them then. The tutorial may have breezed past how I click on all types of the same unit at once, but it's just clumsy.
While I am but a simple player, it appears you need a college class in "how to play EaW." Shit this complicated really isn't that much fun. I basically just click, click, and point and hope the hell something goes right.
Playing space battles are a mess. Simply a mess. Like a bunch of small things moving all over the place and no one knows what's going on.
I think I may have wasted $50 here. I'll keep playing and see though first. First impression. It's too confusing. Not to my taste... I'm happy when I get back to the galactic map where I can be more in control of things.

The X-wing capture mission I didn't find too easy either. Took me quite some tries as well. I think I quit two missions after that one or something, then somewhat later I tried the Empire campaign instead of the Rebel one. It's much easier for some reason . If you find getting stuck a bit on the Rebel campaign (like me), do try the Empire one out, I find it to be a great help and it made me see better how the system works. Seemed less complicated than when I was playing the Rebel campaign. I've not tried the Rebel campaign again yet, am going to finish the Empire one first (3/4th of the Galaxy is mine ), then try out the Rebel one again.

How do you win the second rebel mission. I have to save these transports. I've just been trying to use the y-wings to disable them but then they start flying again and I lose.
What am I actually supposed to do?
lol i got stuck on that level as well so i gave up and went to galactic conquest. XD

Graphics are also very satisfying.
The big gripe: Galactic movement is not turn based but real time. To compensate, it should have a very simple slider to adjust speed from very, very slow to fast. Right now you can't plot a course if you stop the time, which makes strategic movement a hectic switching contest.
If the interface wasn't so slow in reacting on rather clunky (big, old shool square buttons), i'd give the game a high rating.

All I can say is I had a lot of trouble in the beginning. Once I figured my way around it the game was very easy. Remeber to use the Y-Wings ion cannons if you don't have the game's autofire. Failing that, change the difficutlyadjustments.XML's "easy" setting to make it even easier.
The game is really good but get's dreadfully boring if you change the XML's, which makes it much more fun!
