Last night I got a bit bored with coding so I decided to give skinning a go. A few minutes ago I finished my first skin, and here it is:

The frontal view of the skin. Ignore the horn, it will be removed later

A view of his shield

Another view of his shield, conveniently placed over his face ;)

This was skinned entirely from scratch by me (hence the really bad head), but any advice you can give me will be much appreciated :p

Playing games? Ah, you'll never be a good modder if you get involved in actually playing them!

Shading.. use the burn and dodge tools, and shouldn't he be wearing something other then mail?

No fuel left for the pilgrims

Yeah I tried using those tools a bit on the hair and cloak, guess I'll have to use them a but on the rest of the skin too.

As for the mail, my thought is that he's ready for a battle. He's not going to a festival or anything, he's just preparing for a battle, hence the large quantites of mail. I was going to add a belt at some point, and maybe some vambraces.

Thanks for the suggestions on the burn/dodge tool though :)

You have a very good quality in that you skinned everything from scratch. That is a good way to learn. Keep working from scratch, and soon you'll be good. I'm really glad to see that you tried it without pictures first.
