BTW, I know you're trying to expand the network into all kinds of games, and I'm rather addicted to MechWarrior4: Mercenaries, so I might try to mod that when Defcon is done (Which is looking like it may be soon. Soon as in a month if I work really hard.)

I don't think there will be many hits for a while. As everyone is still setting up there sites. All the new hosted projects are for H-L2 which is not out till december, so you could call in an investment ;)2
There will be many new forum members, as every site HAVE to use the network forums now. Never again will i split the forum or have sites use there own forums.
Will you make more versions of Defcon after the main release?

the one mod as far as i can tell. Go to the forums and you'll see how popular. There are constantly like 40 members, 40 guests on. Makes Deezire look small, and is comparitive to Desert Combat, and the mod doesn't even add that much.

I think its just for reference, no news or anything, but a cool site n e way

seems like a pretty popular site, forums aren't really active, but still pretty active
I'm sure there are more, but these seem like the main ones.

Too cute! | Server Status: If you can read this, it's up |Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

As for the topic contence ;)2
I'm going to presume you have read my getting started guides.
All games (made in the last 4 years) have a fileing system. Generals & Fifa use big, Red Alert 2 and TS use mix, HL1 just uses folders. The key to modding is opening those folders.
Once you can open a mix it's not long before you find a an ini file and change the starting money - the first mod is born.
After a while tools are created to open up the other files - the first voxel drives in.
This is how un-supported modding works.
So when you have a new game and no tools you fall into the position of the few, the few who start modding going. To progress you need to go through normal modding steps (thats why i put them above), starting with: What file system does MW4 use?

Anyway.... It appears to be .dll files (There are files named Language, GUNDLL, MWN42, and more which seems to be what we're looking for ). Which is interesting, because these are your basic system files that Windows uses. Actually, its not that surprising, because Mech4 was made by Microsoft. I tried using a standard binary file viewer, but the .dll's apparently have some special properties that make them different, so out of the 3 or 4 binary viewers I tried, none of them worked.
As for not having MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries, you can get it at your local game store for 20 bucks. I wouldn't say get it just for this little project, but I would say get it because its a great game. But if you do decide to get it, make sure you get Mercenaries, not Vengeance. Again, I'm not forcing it on you, but I would recomend it. I can always just send you the files.
thanks
