The One must be cast
This is the price that must be paid,
Only thus its power will be undone
Only thus, a great evil, unmade
There is no other choice.
There is no other way.
One of you must take it,
One of you must pay.

I don't know, I suppose there would be people who like country, maybe they just aren't a lot on this forum.
I like Mark Knopfler's "What it is" and "Sailing To Philadelphia", but I don't know what 'genre' that exactly would fall into, don't think it's country really, though of all songs I like it comes closest to country I think .

Its just... too slow. I love the fast-pacedness of thrash metal, the sound of progressive metal, and the awesomeness of pure fuckin headbangin heavy metal.
Dream Theater, Metallica, MegaDeth, Iron Maiden > You.

Then again taste on itself is based upon how you were raised, state of mind, age and the people who you have around you. So there is nothing weird about beeing a fan of country or not.
But in general people don't like country because its not a popular stream of music. And in general people have the tendency to join the masses.
As for my own opinion, I myself am a dj and have to conform with a lot of styles of music, everything from rock to top 40 to hard trance. But I can honestly say I have never played country in my life. Why? bacause it hasnt got that same buildup that makes songs popular these days. A while back house was really hot: im reffering to bob sinclair and such. But nowadays electro is making its stride: Pakito - Living on Video, Fedde le Grand - Put your Hands Up for Detroit. And so onbut what all these songs have in comon are the basic components: A steady 4 - beat rhytm a 16 beat transfer, a buildup, popular vocals, and a buildoff. Even R&B music has this, country on the other hand might have that 4 beat rhytm but it most certainly hasnt got that 16 beat transfer and a buildup and buildoff isnt present either, and probably most important it often isnt made with help off a computer which means that the 4 beat rhytm isnt a steady one.
Im not saying that all these factors make a song a good song. No it has to be good as in catchy but these factors define if a song is mainstream or not. And when it is mainstream it has more chance to become popular, and lets just face it country isnt mainstream no matter how you turn it.
Other than that country has a rather geeky image with its line dancing and its redneck vibe.

Music is wholly a personal thing. There is no right or wrong to it. But people of our age tend not to like country as it's boring, dull and all sounds the same. I'd rather listen to something with a faster paced riff, or some lovely vocals. Essentially, I look for something that stirs the imagination, the blood or the soul, not the baby's slumber.
Ergo I kick country in the head and listen to alternative metal
