:p I down loaded some mods of gothmog for the original bfme but when i installed them and ran the game it restarts the computer and when it has restarted it says somethingh like "new team colours mod will be uninstalled from your hard drive, but no matter how many times i try to start the game the same thing happens, ive even tried re-installing the game like a million times. Any ideas ?

I haven't seen this error yet. It sounds like a big-time incompatibility problem or something.

What system are you running your game on? XP, 2000, 98, ect...

Is your bfme installed in the default directory?

ok, um... at what point in the game does it restart? And what is the exact error message it gives you?

Do you have any other mods installed? Is this error caused by all of my mods, or just one?

K well this is exactly what happens:
I start the game and straight away a widow called 'Battle for Middle-earth
™' Pops up and it says "Your computer needs to be restarted to continue the patch.press ok to continue"

Then the instant it has restarted a window called "uninstall" comes up and it says " This program will remove New Team Colours mod from your hard drive. Press ok to continue".
It takes a split second till another window named "uninstall" says " New Team Colours Mod has been succesfully removed from your hardrive".

But it aint over yet another window called " 16 bit MS-DOS subsystem" comes up and says
"c:\windows\system32\command.com
c:\windows\SYSTEM32\AutoEXEC.NT.
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows aplications. Chose close to terminate the aplication"

And the exact same thing happens evry time so i cant even use the un modded game

You said you tried removing bfme and then reinstalling right?

That almost sounds like a windows error to me...though I could be wrong.

Lets try to remove all of my mod files, reinstall bfme and see if we can get your game working un-modded.

If the uninstaller that came with the mod won't work, I can show you where all the mod files are located and you can remove them by hand.

wow, you're fast. It's almost midnight here so I won't be able to stay on and help you right now.

Once the game installs, try to download the patches. If that all works then we can work on getting my mods running tomorrow.

hmmm, there is only one other thing I can think of trying: Go into your "My Battle for Middle-earth Files" folder: C:\Documents and Settings\*YourUserName*\Application Data\My Battle for Middle-earth Files (the application data folder may be hidden). And remove any folders that say "something Mod", remove any .big files that are mods, and remove (don't delete) any files that have "Skirmish" or "skirmish stats" in the name. Then try the game.

If that doesn't work, them you either need to have someone come look at your computer or ask for help elsewhere (the main T3A forums perhaps) as this is beyond my ability to help you.

Sorry, best of luck to you.

I don have a "my battle for middle erth folder" in aplication data but there are two files named "Skirmish.ini" and " TheodenSkirmishStats.ini" in the aplication folder. i do have a folder called c;\programmefiles\EAGAMES\TheBattleforMiddle-earth™ is that an equivelent?

The folder in application data should be called My Battle for Middle-earth™ Files (From as far as i know) if you dont have a folder in there with a name something like that then thats very wierd.

The other folder is ment to be there its the main folder for the game. But it is not the write one.
You need the one in application data. It usally appears after making a skirmish profile from as far as i know.
You may be able to just create a new folder and name it.

No, you can't create a new one like that...it is probably there but hidden. I wrote down somewhere on my site how to un-hide those files. I'll see if I can find those instructions and I'll post a link to them.

EDIT: here is the link LINK TO INSTRUCTIONS

Wait a minute...where did you say your "Skirmish.ini" file was located?

If you can't find your "My Battle for Middle-earth Files" how could you have possibly found your skirmish file... It should be in that folder.

Hm, thats odd, I've never heard of that before.

It's supposed to install that file into the "My bfme Files" folder so that the game will read it. I wonder if there are any other files that are misplaced.
