I'd like anyone here who thinks EA has the full rights to all of Tolkien's work to prove it. Back up your words, because I can't imagine EA having the Sil rights.

“Now that we are expanding our Lord of the Rings universe to encompass Tolkien’s books, we’ll be able to combine the visual impact of the films with those complex stories, The RPG genre, in particular, is a great medium for story telling. We are delving into unexplored depths of Tolkien’s works to deliver new, compelling and immersive experiences. The Lord of the Rings Tactics gives RPG fans a first look at how we will do this.”

@ Nertea: Maybe more animations to use? Those always come in handy as there are so few animators around here...

The day Christopher Tolkien willingly sells the rights to any of his fathers works, is the day pigs will fly, humans develop gills, and time travel becomes a posibility. One can be very confident that nobody will be getting their hands on rights to the Sil anytime soon.

CHANGE REQUESTED BY LICENCE HOLDERS: NO DRAGONS AT LONELY MOUNTAIN (too much like that Tolkien book we can't mention and don't have rights to)

:p if they can't even mention the Sil in their ini codes, tolkien enterprises must be a really shitty company...

somebody wake up those people?

anyway, chances are big that EA will screw up the expansion and make it even less balanced than BFME 2. still, i am grateful that ea gave us an engine, some material to expand on and even modding tools for 3ds max

Don't give me this bullshit about breathing new life into T3A with an expansion. Gimme a break people. This expansion will bring very little new people into the site, and it seems like few people who are here now will buy it, let alone mod it.

They could breathe a shitload more life into this site by actually doing some work to put a decent SDK together and working on getting patches out more often and continually supporting their titles.

I think its good there making new expansions but there just not giving u all of it. they should focus on all the factions out of the books at the time of the 3rd age e.g. expanding the esterlings hardrim and umbar into a faction along with dol amroth coming into it. they just cant be bothered to read the books and research the different armies people of middle-earth.

As 4 the rights issiue EA has granted rights to tolkien enterprises meaning they can take any of the books away form them at any time.

ok its real simple. let ea do what they want. we dont have to buy that but we may also. if you think its bad dont buy. if you think its worth the money then buy :) as simple as it is
and if ea has the rights or not? not our buisness :)

It seems like that will be an integral part of this expansion...

I just love EA's logic. They have two wars happening at the same time, but they make them as separate games. They then have another war that happened 1044 years before the other two, and then stick it on as an expansion to the second game. It will be... interesting to see how EA pulls this one off. Knowing them they'll neglect to make Cirdan and Glorfindel main players and instead have Arwen kicking Witch King ass (though I'm sure she was in Lothlorien at the time). Bah, good luck to them.

Cheers to EA for making Battle for Middle-Earth I, one of my favourite games second only to their Return of the King. And here's a pain killer for me for having to witness BfME II and an anti-depresent for what's to come.

hmm knowing EA I would not be very suprised, its prolly exactly what will happen, Unless EA have actuly hired someone to read the books for them, so don't count on them actuly matching the real tolkien time line

Do you think they know fine well all about middle earth its just they can't bebothered actuly following the story correctly?

Late, but agreed ;)

Although, not HUGE patches that makes us coding the mods over and over again ;)
