Yep, it actually says so! And if you look closely at the ingame pic of the unit (also shown), you will see that it looks remarkably like the Soviet T-54/55; hence my suggestion of it.

If you want the cutscene/cameo look, the Bradley is the way to go. It is neither an APC nor a tank, but an IFV. It has a 25mm autocannon and two TOW missiles, as well as space for a six-man squad.

Most TD Units were based on real life units, in some cases tweaked to make them "futuristic". For instance, in TD, the Bradley has had a 70mm gun fitted. Another example would be the GDI minigunners being equipped with miniguns, even though they are depicted as being armed with M16s (same as Nod in fact).

I've attached a photo of the Bradley and another of the T-55 so that you guys can see better what I mean.

crap! on my TD manual the GC immage its totally different! and looks actually like one of our Dardos (i got the Warfare pack), now i get to search my manual to see if I did'nt get an hallucination(or maybe because the image is the background of the text box, not like your that have the CG image and then the description, there is the text box and in the background of the box there is the image but anyway, both tanks can fulfil the role of the Light tank (also the dardo looks more like the sprite (stretched body, small turret in the centre, if the sprite would have been like a Bradley the Turret would have been much more foward in the body
if was to show a T55 the body would have been much more shorter and "fat" and the turret much more larger), if i Find a pic from above of a dardo i will post here immediatly

EDIT: here is it

compare it with the sprite

I didn't really want to labour the point this much but still

To keep the conversion "loyal", you would need to emulate either the cutscene or ingame look pretty closely.
If you opt for the cutscene appearance, the Bradley would look just fine, as the turret is centred enough, and as Nod only have a single turreted tank there would be no confusion.
Alternatively, if you opt for the ingame look, it can appear as any tank that resembles the ingame SHP. Since real tanks are useful to draw from (helps to have detail that is referenced from a RL tank - presuambly why WW did it too), I suggested one of the Cold War russian tanks.

I've attached drawings below of the T-62 (pretty close to the T-55 in most major visual aspects) and the M2A3 Bradley IFV so that you can see. I hope the top-views in particular will be helpful.

Finally I'd just like to add: It is ultimately your conversion, so obviously do as you wish :p I'm only pointing these things out as a CnC fan and as a treadhead. I daresay other CnC fans would also appreciate loyalty to the original game too though ;)

I don't really think it looks much like a T-55 (or any of the Soviet post-WW II tanks). If use in RL really doesn't matter, I think, as Godwin said, the M551 looks most like the ingame sprite.
You cannot compare pissing to thinking

i feel it must be said: for the original ingame sprite, they made a grey circle and placed it on top of a grey rectangle. the circle represented a turrent and there were about 6 black pixles representing a gun! i think that they used the little graphic power they had to make a tank that's all, just a tank, which was a couple of pixles smaller then gdi's tank to represent "small". i think that was all they needed, i think what's important is the balancing of the unit and the fact that it looks smaller then gdi's tank. if you want to modle it after the sprite you'll get a really high definition circle on top of a rectangle. if you try to modle it after a real life tank that looks a lot like that particular circle on top of that particular rectangle then you might end up with something that doesn't look right for a light tank.

i think what i'm trying to say is that westwood didn't put very much effort into making their sprite look like the tank it was supposed to represent. then again they may have made the unit and the sprite first and then decided what it was supposed to represent afterwards for the sake of manuals and cutscenes. i could honestly imagine this from a group of people able to think abstractly enough to invent something like an ifv(red alert 2)

haha yep, but i still say bradley

notice the M2-F designation, it doesnt exist in this world, so....

remember that it's all an alternate reality, meaning that things can look the same, do the same thing, come from the same place, or anyone of these factors, or perhaps even neither with things from this reality
