If recently got photoshop7.0 off a mate and I have heard since that you can use it for skinning. Im not sure weather it is true or not, becasue i have only really been using it to modify pictures of cars.

Can anyone tell me if this is true, and if so, does anyone know where I can find any tutorials?

Yes you can, try Killasmods or GenDev.

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

On killas site, it says... "Using photoshop I turned the DDS skin into a tga file so I could use it in RenX."

How do I do that? I tried the 'open as' but it says summat about DDS not being compatible or summat. Anyone able to help?

If you use XCC mixer you can copy the DDS as a tga file. Or if you have the DDS plugin for photoshop, you can use that.

do a google search for photoshop DDS plugin.
If you wanna be a serious modder, you're gonna need it. ;)

My site doesn't actually have a tutorial on using photoshop to make the skin, cos I'm not at all good at making my skins. If anyone wants to write one tho...

I have the same problem with Photoshop 7 complaining about DLL files. I'm not sure what it is, so I just get someone else to convert to DDS when I need it. XCC Mixer is amazingly handy.

The only extra dll it should need is msvcrt10, unless you've got a less than legit version.

That's a tutorial on Hex editing a skin. If you need to convert with XCC, navigate to where your file is, and then right click it and choose Copy as TGA.

The DDS plugin for photoshop can be found a GenDev (I think) and it can also be downloaded here.
