Overview

The Kingdom of Easternmost Belka is a very hot and humid country, interspersed with deserts. Its backward attitude towards many things is primarily due to the culture that presides. The monarch, currently King Elwyn Olipura, wields along with his courtiers a full fifty percent of the power cards, with the Parliament holding the other half. A powerhouse of trade in riches and fineries, while the Kingdom of Easternmost Belka may lack in terms of modernness, it makes up in prosperity. It is the southeasternmost of the Four Nations of Belka.

Government

A constitutional monarchy has been in place in the Kingdom for as long as can be remembered. The King and his court have equal say with the parliament. It used to be a much more absolute power, however the Parliament have been trying to republicise the nation slowly but surely. The Parliament's laws or constitutional amendments must be ratified by the King and vice versa. The gentry of the nation are staunchly averse to change, and as a result stoicity ensues, the nation unable to advance quickly purely due to the lack of consensuses being reached.

Geographic Location

Southern-equatorial, the climates are warm and humid, although interspersed with desert. Resources are plentiful, and the scenery much unspoiled and picturesque. It sits nextdoor to its oft-called 'sister-kingdom' Clandonia.

Culture

Very Greek-Byzantine achitecture and over-regality. There is still a vassalry, so there is clearly a distinction between the wealthy nobles and the middling-to-lesser peasants. There has only recently been the inclusion of knighthoods (and therefore regal status) to some of the more prosperous and learned non-nobles.

Music

As with the culture, the music is very much flute and lute.

Education

The education system is for the nobles and the fortunate only. The nation exists in a sort of seventeenth-century time-warp. Deeply seeded with religion, the education given can hardly be said to be entirely factual.

Military

The Eastern Grand Royal Army is hardly equipped with the most modern weapons. Dressed in oddly ceremonious colours of red and blue, the soldiery stand out massively. Their tactics have advanced a little bit more than their uniforms, and they've mastered the art of digging in easily. Cavalry still play a part in their forces, however their mounted sharpshooters are known to be quite fearsome.
