Totally oblivious to the events of Comberth Harbour, a small force, detatched from the Grabacr Fleet, launched a surprise attack on a large oil drilling platform off the coast of Aesania. They had known that there was not more than a token resistance for this platform, and so had hit it at dawn. Primarily comprised of destroyers and cruisers, that was the primary attack force. Five destroyers, three cruisers, plus the Atlantian-designed Pharaoh Submarine were firing at the platform, the sub using torpedoes to destroy the drill itself. Great gouts of flame surged from the decks as the small fleet pummelled it. The oil would burn like crazy, and this would only serve to help the Belkans. It was even possible there might be a backblast, and the oil would ignite further and further down the well, blowing the platform clean out of the water.

Wardog squadron... Launch!

The deadly dozen of Wardog lifted off from Sand Island AFB, in response to reports of a Belkan raid on oil platforms off the coast of the Union. It had been relatively quiet since the Aersan raid... And it was time for them to have some real action.

They came in low and fast, their Falkens screeching across the surface of the water. The Dogs didn't know what to expect.

Then again, neither did the Belkans.

The Belkan attack had reduced the large drilling platform to a burning wreck. Plumes of filthy black smoke billowed miles into the sky. One Belkan ASW chopper was depth-charging the life-rafts while the rest of the fleet withdrew. This fight was already over; mission accomplished. Better to get away before the cavalry arrived.

"Helicopter at twelve... Looks like he's fragging the survivors.", Edge said through the squadron radio, concerned for the workers of the rig.
"Smoke the fucker. These are civilians they're murdering."

Edge moved into position, loosing two missiles into the ASW chopper as the Wardogs streaked overhead. They approached the withdrawing naval group, their objective now to simply gain retribution.

"Should we have some fun?"
"What the hell are we out here for? Let's hit 'em where it hurts!"

The Dogs began strafing the Belkan ships in an attempt to get a taste of the blood which those forces in Comberth were drinking in at that time.

"Where the hell did those fighters come from!? They weren't on the scans a second ago!"

"Well, they're here now, and they're doing their damnedest to bring us down. We just lost Krasnoe Sero. Get the AA guns and SAMs working. I want those sons of bitches dead or out of here."

The ships did just that, using their chainguns for shooting at the Dogs and at any missiles they fired.

"They've come out a long way to engage us here, wherever they're from...they'll Winchester soon, and by the time they rearm we'll be long gone."

Within moments of the Belkans opening fire, two fighters fell to the waves in flames, unprepared for the concentration of fire.

"Eleven! Twelve!", Edge shouted into the radio.
"They're gone, Edge. Just concentrate on surviving now that they're fighting back... We can mourn later."

Another reason women shouldn't be in combat., Chopper thought to himself as he brought his fighter around hard.

The Wardogs simply strafed the Belkan ships with guns, seeing as they hadn't been outfitted with anti-ship weaponry for this mission. They wouldn't do much... But they would give all they could dish out.

A few lucky strafes with the guns struck into a fuel barrel, igniting a portion of the deck and sending the barrel itself comedically launching into the air like a bottle rocket. Firecrews quickly cleared up the fire ensuing on deck, lest it spread to other barrels.

"Get that goddamn fuel below deck! NOW!"
As he screamed, the young fire-crewman was torn apart by fighter gunfire. He slumped to the deck, huge chunks of him doing much the same five or so feet away.

((OOC: You realise you only really get about four hundred rounds of gun in a real fighter? Exception: A10. You get 2000 then. :D ))

((OOC: Yeah, hence why I said they wouldn't do much. You can post your retreat now. I don't want to hammer you hard here, since I'm about to have an incredibly bloody fight over Comberth. :D ))

((OOC: Bloody indeed))

The Belkan forces were able to keep going, taking only minor crew casualties. One missile boat had its hull punctured by sustained fire, but that was nothing. Hell, the Belkans even jokingly broadcast over the Wardogs' frequency that they would have blown it themselves if the Wardogs had just asked. They knew a short time later that they were successfully clear of Wardog gun attack, and the Dogs had Winchestered anyway.

"Wardogs? Hah! Puppydog more like."
