I really like the Angmar buildings. The witch king kinda does look cool. At least it adds a new campaign. Does it give any more features/armor/etc to CAH?

Nvm about the CAH. just saw it. Are there any other heroes for the Angmar faction?

THe buidlings are good, but the other stuff is... ridiculous... EA please, learn of THIS:

http://lotro.turbine.com/

I don't know EA, but WEREWOLVES weren't mentioned in LOTR, so if you haven't got the rights of the Silmarilion you can't add them ingame.
Ah, they look horrible BTW.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again

EA is digging their own grave, knowing me i'll buy it anyway just to see the shiny new units and crap

Actually werewolves were mentioned in the supporting books like the Sim. In the 1st and 2nd age, they were used by the forces of evil. EA stated they have the rights to Tolkiens books.

I'd assume that included all of them. Including "The Untold Tales" and such.

EA only has rights to LOTR. They don't even have the rights to things like The Hobbit, hence why they had to remove Drogoth from the Erebor mission.

As far as I know they are actually breaking this "law" anyway. They're using weapon names from the sil (belthronding, gurthang) for CAH weapons.

Hostile, EA doesn't have the rights to the Silmarillion. Tolkien Enterprises would never sell those.

Thanks for keeping tabs on this FlameGuard :D

Now on to the EA bashing:

I can't believe it... that armor on the witchking looks ridiculous. Especially the fur coat he's wearing :thumbsdown:

I'm little more leniant about that staff/mace thing he's wielding... what ever happened to good old swords?

Ooohh look, the Numenorians finally made it into the game... :umad:

It's pretty much based on what he wears in the film; the helm and armour is very similar, although he wore a body-length cloak instead of that fur thing, as part of the whole ringwraith tie in. He also brandished a large mace in the film if you recall, of a similar style.

As for the rest, I can't really see anything interesting here. The multiple uses of the word "innovative" are something that EALA are using as a pseudonym for "fucked up" these days, so expect some issues. No mention on improving current Ai or stupidly huge flaws either.

Yes, i agree with ambershee. EA is so good at manipulating these kind of things, they havent even shown anything new besides some pretty pictures showing off some new graphics. No improvement to the game whatsoever besides a new kitbashed 'Goblins' and 'Mordor' side.

Where exactly did you learn this information? Where did you learn they had to remove Drogoth? I think you're speculating on your own account, in other words, I think you're making that shit up. And who is to say Tolkien enterprises did not allow them to use stuff from the Sim or the Hobbit?

For all you all know, they renegotiated thier original agreement. You know EA games isn't gonna do anything out of bounds set by Tolkien Enterprises.

Instead of bashing EA on every level, be glad they are continueing to support BFME. At least there will be more stuff for you all to recycle and mod if nothing else. I'm so tired of modders crying like babies because EA did this, fucked up that...get over it and just be glad there is still more to come.

Other option is nothing else is released, the games drifts into obscurity, people grow tired of it, and T3A dies a slow death.

Now which option is more appealing in the large scope of things?

If I had to choose between T3A and a true to Tolkien BFME, I'd choose the game.

Mission Erebor
Map = "MAP EVIL Erebor"
IntroMovie = Evil_Erebor_Intro
LoadScreenImage = CampaignEvil_Erebor_LoadScreen
LoadScreenMusicTrack = SX-EvilExplore1
MillisecondsAfterStartToStartFadeUp = 2000

; List CarryoverUnits which we don't want to appear at the beginning of the map automatically
; These units don't spawn right away; save them until the scripts ask for them

DelayCarryoverSpawningOf = EvilMenBlackRider
DelayCarryoverSpawningOf = MordorMouthOfSauron
DelayCarryoverSpawningOf = WildShelob

; These units don't appear in this map as all; we're using this to hide their existence until later missions
DelayCarryoverSpawningOf = WildGoblinKing
DelayCarryoverSpawningOf = Drogoth ;; CHANGE REQUESTED BY LICENCE HOLDERS: NO DRAGONS AT LONELY MOUNTAIN (too much like that Tolkien book we can't mention and don't have rights to)
End

Of course that we're glad that EA did this, but dude, WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
They're not doing any favour to us.

Hostile, there are more ways to keep the community. They don't have to release odd expansions.

PS: If someone releases screenshots of his mod but you don't like them, what do you do? You say that he has to improve it.
So that's the same, the difference is that we have to pay for it.

I agree. EA hasn't released anything for Generals for years, and that modding community is still alive and kicking.

IP law is weird. they can't even mention the silmarillion in their source code? what about 'fair use' and all, eh?

seems to be Tolkien Enterprises is a bit of a paranoid company

anyway, i really hated this expansion pack when i first heard of it, but now i've cooled down (it was mainly because i knew i had to convert my mod some time :p). i realise that this gives us more stuff to mod and that they might even do it right this time (third time works or something)

I too have re-thought my hate for EA. I have decided not to hate them for messing with Tolkien, I'll hate them for ruining the BFME experience. BFME I had a deep, strategic view to it (well, I guess :p) while BFME II is build a million units and watch them all die in a giant blurr they call a battle. In BFME I you had to be careful with your units, watching their every move, using extreme macro to outmaneuver the enemy pikeman... In BFME II what does one horde mean? In that case what do 10 hordes mean? As a Modder, I say "GO EA!!!!", but as a common game player, I prefer BFME I over anything else EA pitifully tries to improve. I do not think that in any way this expansion will make the game more playable :(

NOTE: Hostile, I'm not bashing EA, I am criticising their game from a gamers perspective.
