The dude there kinda reminds me of what Yuri did, minus the psychic crap and in Star Wars. I can see the Westwood influences right there :)

Although what I really want is one with the Vong in.

This was announced at E3, ages ago :)

Visually it looks exactly the same as the original EAW, which wasn't particularily impressive, apparently they've used a few higher resolution textures here and there, but that's about it.

Hopefully, it'll be better put together than EAWs incredibly shoddy original campaigns, where a few of the missions looked slapped together in a random fashion at the last minute.

It is however supposedly almost canonical to the SW background, so a lot of the fanbois will be raving about it - something that's easily overlooked by a lot of companies these days.

I figure the timeline runs from Episode 5, and then out past Episode 6 judging by the content. There's a lot of characters in there to suggest that (e.g G.A Thrawn and Yoda both being playable - who otherwise don't share a timeline)

Anyway, there's plenty of information and speculation already out there for those that care to google it ^_^

A little research tells me, because they're produced by an independent arms company, which would simply sell to those who wanted to purchase. I can easily see a criminal overlord buying such services, can't you :)?

Mm, true. I thought they were manufactured by the Geonosians, though...

According to the expanded universe, the original design was developed by the insectoid people of Colla IV, who were displeased by the limitations of Baktoid Combat Automata's basic battle droids, and chiefly manufactured there. The Trade Federation, and presumably the Confederacy, used trading in rare meats as a way to ease bargaining with the ravenously carnivorous Colicoids, and were able to get special rates on these special infantry droids. Before the Federation's defeat at Battle of Naboo, these droids were usually slaved to a central computer, although this technique fell out of favor in the aftermath of this battle. Although a lot of Droidekas were not shown in multiple numbers in the movies (mainly Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith), they were still mass-produced (in comparable numbers to Super Battle Droids) with full specifications. A Droideka made a rare post-prequel era appearance in Survivor's Quest, where it proved a formidable opponent for Luke Skywalker and his wife, Mara Jade.

There's a Star Wars wiki out there somewhere, it's a minefield of crap you never wanted to know about nothing you've ever heard of before :)
