Buildings Screenshots - 25/09/06

It was pointed out in the forums that I've hardly shown any screenshots that show off the new Elven buildings. So... Here we are. I've also made a small change to Arwen's Asfaloth: he now runs with an arched neck as he does in the films.

Thanks everyone. I forgot to mention again that the model for the Rivendell Stabels was done by Drewry and Nertea, and the skin by Nertea. Building animations for the Stables, the Mirror, and the Orchard were done by Drewry. Everything else is mine (or EA's).

What is wrong with Arwens left arm in the first screen?

Buildings look great. BTW, the castle citadel is surrounded by trees, are they part of the citadel? Do they act as a shield or something?

Nothing. That's her sleeve draping down.

BTW, the castle citadel is surrounded by trees, are they part of the citadel? Do they act as a shield or something?


No, they aren't part of the citadel, nor are they really a shield. They're just another place where you can hide stealthy troops. The walls of the castle are also lined with trees. These "base trees" cannot be cut down by workers, nor are they affected by Devastation (though the AI still tries to use Devastation on them every now and again). The only way to destroy these trees is to destroy the entire base.

good the trees go away. that got me so mad that they stayed there in the elvenstar mod. which leads me to this question. can we see the trees on the screen even if we havent been there?

also whats with the xeno support group?

That is a very good question... I'll have to test ingame to see. It could lead to some problems if they are seen (you'll know where the Elven castles are)... Hmm. Thanks for pointing this out.

The pics all look awesome. But could I make a suggestion? I know you didnt make the stables but IMO it would look much better if it was in some way "blended" in to the grass of the castle. Hope you understand what I mean.

I could do that... But there are a few problems: A) it would include reskinning to a larger file size B) it would involve remapping and remodelling the bib C) I actually like it the way it is :p . Thanks for offering a suggestion though!

I'm an idiot and redid one of the Elven units. So that'll probably be shown soon'ish. If I can bring myself to playing through the rest of the campaign, the Black Gate will be shown soon too (though there's nothing much going on with it... just more units).
