finalbig isn't an editor. use notepad++ and colorINI

btw, the newest finalbig automatically opens files in an external editor

LaurEDIT: yeah, guess what :p

Are you using finalbig to edit your ini files? If yes, then you can't find the line and should change the program...

Yes, use finalbig to extract your ini files, then use Notepad++ to edit them.

Notepad++ gives you the nice markup functions. I use it for all types of coding (ini, html, css, javascript, ...) because it has a lot of coding languages predefined, and as ched showed us, you can also make your own...

sorry 'bout that

*brainwashazzuudaalaaadooo*

better?

anyway, notepad++ absolutely owns notepad times 10

not only does it have colours, it has a good find+replace (including regular expression, VERY useful once you get to know them), automatic tabs and multiple docs in 1 window

yeah, on top of modding bfme, it's handy when you want to make a quick change to a java/html/css/php/whatever file

ca 4 days.....

And I don't spam, so I'd say I use Notepad++ with ColorINI  It's very easy to use, since It's MUCH easier to remove the ; and the thing that's behing :p But the bad thing, for me, is that I remove almost everything that has a ; in front of it.... I can't help it :p

I'm not going to edit your post or clean up the topic. Instead I'll give you and all posters some friendly advice:

If you really want or need to comment on something unrelated to the topic, try to include something that is ontopic within the same post.

If your first post was something like:

ca 4 days...

And I don't spam, so I'd say I use Notepad++ with ColorINI. It's very easy to use, since It's MUCH easier to remove the ; and the thing that's behing. But the bad thing, for me, is that I remove almost everything that has a ; in front of it.... I can't help it

The post couldn't be considered spam, as it was actually (partially) ontopic. Just because of that one little line.

Personally, I would consider this particular post of yours to be on the edge of spam, but not real spam, considering that you are a moderator and just pointed out to him that the topic isn't all that old. It would have been nice if you had used some more words to say that, but I guess that's just you crypticness that we got to live with ;)

So, back on topic:
Instead of notepad++, I use ConText. No doubt that notepad++ is a great program, but I've used ConText for quite some time now, and have grown used to it. Besides, it also supports custom colouring sheme's, so if I wanted I could make a SAGE ini template for it.

Solinx

LaurEDIT: Fixed the quote of yours ;)

Solinx, Ched made a tool like that for Notepad++. It highlights key code segments in certain colours. It's made my life a lot easier when scrolling through files with 384 orcs, as I can see where the next one starts ;)

I know. Making that colour template for ConText has been on my todo list for over 5 months ;) It's low priority, since I have little problems with looking at plain text. It has been plain text for all the 5 year's or so that Ive been modding (not just the Sage engine), so I'm used to it ;)

ca'n help myself, but I noticed your sig zimoo ;)

anyways, I see your point Solinx ;)
And I know, but sometimes it just fades away in my mind, and I don't write anything ontopic ;)

BOT, you can basically use ANY writing program when editing an INI, or atleast I think....But I highly recommend Notepad++ with ColorINI ;) it makes it better for the eyes, and you can multiple files up and running at the same time ;) in the same program :p
A bit difficult to explain, but those who use it know's what I'm talking about :p
